Applejack's mother was a Manehattan pony who fell in love with Sweet Apple Acres and the farmer who lived there. The gold necklace he gave her wasn't expensive or flashy, but she loved it anyway. Now that Applejack is ready to propose to Twilight with the same necklace, she hopes it really is fit for a princess.

Twilight Sparkle is no stranger to change. From being a closed off shut in to becoming the warm and friendly pony everyone knows today, to becoming a full fledged alicorn Princess. Despite all the adventures she's had and the amazing friends she's made, she now finds her adrift in her sparkly new castle.

Thankfully, there's one friend of hers that might just ground her and put her worries to rest.

Every winter, Applejack heads off into the apple orchard after a heavy snowfall. This year is no different. She can't describe why she does it—to feel the wind chill, to test her endurance, to get some time alone with her thoughts...

All she knows is that she loves the journey.

Twilight Sparkle was thrilled to find her place as Princess of Friendship. But what is a Princess of Friendship without her friends? When Applejack comes to her to have an important conversation, Twilight is reminded that some of her friends have places of their own.

Ivan is just your everyday type of guy. Middle-aged, balding, Eastern European, grew up in harsh and merciless communism, and took to smoking three packs of cigarettes a day since childhood, washing it down with vodka as well. When he heard about the great opportunities the magical land of Equestria were offering, he got one of the first green cards there and opened up shop in Ponyville. A saddle shop, to be specific, where he sells saddles and saddle accessories.

Why ponies buy saddles, Ivan doesn't know, and when he finds out, he'd like very much to go back to not knowing.

Meet Maud.

Maud isn't your typical Canterlot High student. She often eats lunch by herself, never has sleepovers with anyone and seems to spend most of her time with her pet rock she named Boulder.

Her sister, Pinkie Pie, reckons that needs to change. And she'll try her hardest to get Maud some friends that are elementary, not sedimentary. After all, how can Maud ever know the joys and benefits of having friends if she doesn't have any?

Applejack and Rarity's relationship was never easy, even at the best of times. But their love for one another was constant, an irresistible force, up until one day when it was no longer enough.

Years have passed since then, and on one quiet night, their paths cross once again.
