JaketheGinger

There are a few Jakes on this website. I'm the ginger one.

Meet Maud.

Maud isn't your typical Canterlot High student. She often eats lunch by herself, never has sleepovers with anyone and seems to spend most of her time with her pet rock she named Boulder.

Her sister, Pinkie Pie, reckons that needs to change. And she'll try her hardest to get Maud some friends that are elementary, not sedimentary. After all, how can Maud ever know the joys and benefits of having friends if she doesn't have any?

Nice little story. Not too heavy, and full of Pinkie being her usual zany yet caring self.

Author, if the person who made the fucking Winningverse says he likes this, you done good.

I enjoyed it. There need to be more non-clop Maud fics. ^-^

 You used my suggestion for the title!

Well I mean, it's not like they've ever colluded on anything before... :trollestia::pinkiehappy:

Still, it is a good little continuation of Jake's miniseries of EqG one-shots.

I liked the direction you went with the story. I thought your characterization was pretty solid.

However, the dialogue felt off. It didn't flow very well at all. It left a poor taste in my mouth despite the rest of the story being pretty solid.

So my overall thoughts on the story? Decent, I think, is the word.

Possibly might be due to Maud. She doesn't speak much and when she does, her sentences are short and to the point, which means the other character in the conversation has to do a lot more work.

Not sure though. I didn't write this outrageously differently to how I would anything else. Unless I'm just bad at dialogue now. :twilightoops:

See, that's the weird thing. When I said the dialogue felt off, it was mostly due to the dialogue attribution. There were many times where you went overboard on that front, I felt, and as a result, the dialogue had trouble flowing.

What magma can you ask for?

I would've gone with "What ore can you ask for?"

Essentially, there isn’t exactly a ‘right’ way to be a person. (Well, unless you’re a raging she-demon. Or a siren. Or the countless monsters you've described. Hopefully you get my point though.)

There are a lot of wrong ways to be a person, but no one right way.

A nice tale of introversion versus extroversion and how neither is better or worse than the other. I can't help but think that Pinkie would've picked up on Maud's lower need for social interaction before now, but she can be surprisingly oblivious at times. Thank you for the story.

That was cute.

Can never have enough Pinkie-Maud bonding. Well done, Jakey.

“Do… do you feed it?” Norman stammered, almost stunned.
“Yes,” Maud said.

“The rock...?” Sunset questioned.
“My rock,” Maud said.

You know. I'm not mad at you, really. No. I'm mad at myself because I didn't see that joke coming.

I found this to be an enjoyable little Maud fic, very nice.

Good story. It did what it needed to well, and didn't stray from it to much. Also the joke with Vinyl was amusing.
Though I was surprised that Pinkie didn't try to get the diamond dog expies to join the geology club. I think they'd be the kinda people to like it.

This was really nice. You got Maud down perfectly.

Why does she have to say described? I mean Sunset is from Equestria too, the only real gaps are Nightmare Moon, Tirek, Discord and maybe the changelings, everything else is common enough, at least for Celestia's student it probably would be. Also she might at least have seen renditions of the first three, we know there are some of Nightmare, even if just as a legend. Sunset also easily could have seen Discord's statue even if she just remembered it as "that ugly statue in the gardens" instead of Discord. It makes this line seem odd.

Very sweet. You captured Maud perfectly and I like the geology club idea.

“I like ghosts,” Maud said.

best line ever
