This story is a sequel to I, Raven

It started as such a nice day. The sun was up and shining, things were going smoothly and peacefully, then a Saddle Arabian entourage arrived and everything went down hill from there. The most notorious witch in the history of Equestria suddenly and unexpectedly returns, The Red Clover. Soon after, she is pursued by an equally as famous and long thought dead pony, Clover the Clever, triggering a series of events that cannot be undone. Equestria becomes threatened from every direction and all Princesses Twilight Sparkle and Sunset Shimmer wanted to do was relax and prepare for their wedding day. Even the gods of old seem to have turned against them as the entire world is put in the crosshairs of annihilation.

A two part story and the exciting conclusion to the Incarnate series.

A mysterious portal appears in the Everfree Forest one afternoon, and Twilight Sparkle and her friends are sent to investigate. The portal transports them to another Equestria, one full of darkness and strife, where they struggle to survive while trying to make their way home, making new friends along the way and combating dangers as they go, all while under the watchful eye of a manipulative overlord who wants to use them for some nefarious purpose.

Hang on, that all sounds awfully familiar, doesn't it? That's the basic premise of the entire CRISIS-verse, right?

But something is different this time around, something which influences everything in ways you might not expect.

This story takes place as an alternate retelling of CRISIS: Equestria, but you do not need to be familiar with that story to enjoy this one. But for those familiar with the original, you might just get a kick out of the new situations you'll find your favorite characters in.

The events of CRISIS: A Royal Affair are still considered canon within this timeline, except for that story's epilogue. It is not required reading to enjoy this story.

This story takes place during Season Three, after Wonderbolts Academy but before Keep Calm and Flutter On.

Foreword by and edited/co-authored by Devnator. Cover art and character designs by Starlight Spark.

Shares a TVTropes page with the original story.

This 'Earth' is so close, and yet so far from anything Twilight described on the other side of that mirror. How is Rarity going to get back to her home when she can't understand anyponybody? And didn't Twilight say she became human, and humans didn't use magic? Yet clearly some did... and that wasn't even counting all the devices that might as well have been magical, as far as Rarity was concerned.

Who knew one strange little gem could cause so many problems? They'd taken it from her after it'd brought her straight into a lab for study, but... If she ever found it again, she was definitely going to let Spike eat it. As soon as she got home. And by Celestia, she was going to get home!

...Will Rarity ever find her way home? Is the gem that brought her to Earth the key, and is there more to the factions maneuvering around her appearance?

To complicate matters, this is an Earth recovering from its first alien invasion (Rarity being technically the second, then). ...Or does that actually explain things? No, no it doesn't. But it will.

------------------------------------------------------
To go with the Teen rating (or rather to explain it) there is light profanity and violence. I don't believe either are at a level where the warning tags are needed, but I'll mention it at least.
There may be some darker, more explicit moments in flashbacks, but I'll save those for Interludes.
