[One-shot] Twilight Sparkle, like many progressively minded ponies, are drawn to the newly emerging equestrian jazz scene, where she's seduced by the music and the atmosphere. But as a mare more at home in a library than among ponies, she's not exactly well-equipped to deal with the finer point of social interaction in this environment.
What happens when you see only what you want to see, hear only what you want to hear, and project those views onto somepony against their will? What happens when that fiction becomes reality, and their reality becomes everypony else's fiction?
Ditzy Doo has to deal with it on a daily basis. Try as she might, ponies still see her as the klutzy, muffin obsessed mailmare that she's always been, or at least, that they think she's always been.
"Fluttershy has never been the most confident of ponies; so, when she finds herself introduced to some new feelings for one of her closest, longtime friends, she's understandably unwilling to act for fear of losing a friend.
Of course, Fluttershy has friends, new and old, that won't let her let the opportunity pass her by.
Some that simply can't bear to see the seeds of love go unsown in the pegasus.
After all, sometimes all a pony needs is some gentle nudging."
