Some things are meant to remain secret; to forever toil in the shadows behind a smiling facade of playfulness and friendship. Rarity happens across such a secret one star-filled night, but can she steer towards the light, or with the intoxicating and seductive brew of power overcome her judgement? i have one question before i try this out, as i already have too much fanfic to deal with in one lifetime;
H.P. Lovecraft anypony?

your answer will determine if i read this.

Oh my dear Celestia, that was a masterfully written horror story that played on psychological fear rather than resorting to gore just for shock value. I commend you, good stallion. :pinkiecrazy:

Psychological horror? Oh this is a must-read now.

Ah, classic Lovecraft. What, don't you remember when H.P. Lovecraft convinced Clarke Ashton Smith to go with him into the future to write fanfiction? Shame on you! It's right there in his biography. Which one? Why, 'I Am Providence', of course (Seriously, it's a damn good read!).

Anyway, HOLY SHIT THIS STORY. I may be a little jaded when it comes to horror, knowing all the cliches and being able to spot a plot twist from a mile off, but this is still pretty freaking good.

5 INSANE CULTISTS OUT OF 5

Soylent green is ponies!!!!

Woah! That was surprisingly dark for a pony story. But it was quite an enjoyable read nonetheless. :twilightsmile:

Wow! That had Lovecraft written ALL over it! Mostly pony, but... WOW:pinkiecrazy:

Althoough I gotta say now I wanna see a sequel about the cult being "discovered" or somehow outed to the public. And not just along the lines of "Pinkie discovers the cult, tries to out them, gets killed/forced to join/otherwise silenced" but "Pinkie discovers the cult, talks to Celestia, all hell breaks loose."

Yeah, I was going to write my own review, but this guy already said everything I was going to say. Creepy and delicious, just like I like it. Thank you very much.

... Taking that "spice" to the school is going to be their downfall. Just sayin' :| Anyone able to spell "exposure"?

Cool, thanks for your fair and honest thoughts! ^^ (I personally was on the fence with the age rating at the time I posted this, but opted for Teen since there was no graphic depictions of blood, gore and the like. Though, in some ways I guess it can make it WORSE to leave it up to reader imagination. =p)

When I first saw the title, I thought it was based on "The Shadow Over Insmuth" And it does share a theme or two with that story specifically But it's definitely a very good pony adaptation of Lovecraftian writing.
