The first half of a new, shorter, but fully written, version of my take on the cancelled Equestria Girls special that was supposed to introduce the human Sunset, with Flash Sentry as the main focus.

Premise:
Flash Sentry has begun to long for the days before Equestrian magic (and Twilight Sparkle) was introduced into his life. He and his family move in next door to the family of his childhood best friend, and Flash transfers to his school to avoid the Rainbooms as much as possible. But as he tries to move on with his life, Flash comes to a horrifying realization that could mean the end of all of reality.

Flash Sentry has come to accept that in a world now full of magic, someone like him is nothing more than a side character despite how much they want to help. He's sent to live a life of boring mediocrity, until one unexpectedly strange day. From out of nowhere, a pod comes crashing down to earth. And inside is a device that will change Flash's life forever. The Omnitrix.

With Sunset Shimmer out of town, things haven't been the same for the Rainbooms and friends. Canterlot has been very quiet since the girls' graduation from CHS.

That is, until a certain rabbit came to town...after another wrong turn at Albuquerque.

Sunset Shimmer might as well be a black cat, with how much bad luck seems to follow her everywhere that involves magic. Yet ending up in a place other than Equestria and becoming a fugitive within 24 hours just has to be the icing on the cake.

Stranded on the Boiling Isles, Sunset takes refuge at a sentient house, where two witch sisters sharing a curse, a big-headed demon, and a human girl/witch in-training help her hone her rediscovered magic powers and get back home.

• Post-canon MLP/EqG, the girls are currently in their senior year and Princess Twilight has been ruling Equestria for about six moons (CHS started around the time Luz has been admitted into Hexside).
• Set sometime after the Season 1 finale of The Owl House and is an alternate take on the second season (while retaining as much canonical aspects as possible).
• Mild violence throughout the story, but most prominent in one single chapter, gore tag to be added later.

In a desperate need for money, Rainbow Dash enlists herself and her friends in a bounty hunting operation
of a mysterious driver who has eluded many stalkers.
But little does she know that something sinister is afoot in the Equestrian Circuit Games!

Rainbow Dash needs to do her school project, on the last day.
It does not end well.
