On a frosty winter's evening, Twilight Sparkle is out on a lonely hilltop all by herself waiting for a rare astronomical phenomenon to occur; while waiting, she has a strange encounter with some mysterious force that soon resolves itself into an all-too-familiar form. She quickly learns that the only thing which can improve a once-in-a-lifetime experience is having somepony close to her to share it with.

It had seemed like a good idea at the time, until Sunset actually read what Twilight wrote in her letter. She'd already said yes to seeing Celestia again, and she wouldn't go back on her word. As long as she remained convinced that this was a good idea and that it would all end well, she could get through it without a problem.

How did Sunset Shimmer get such a nice place with absolutely no records, no money, nothing?

When little filly Sunset Shimmer dresses as a Royal Guard for Nightmare Night, Princess Celestia gets the great idea to make Sunset her little guard for the night. Ain't nothing getting past this little filly!

I was given the inspiration for this story from a line from this story by TheNewYorkBrony.

Many ponies leave out cookies on the night of Hearth's Warming Eve. It's tradition, after all.

It's been a tradition for a very long time.

Hearth's Warming. A time of joy and cheer, of generosity and love.
Not so much for the Apple Family, though.
Winter means the end of crop season, and money is hard to come by. The family, however, protects their pride by celebrating small... meaning not at all.
When Twilight and and the rest of the mane six find this out, they spring into action, wanting this Hearth's Warming to be one especially for them. One to remember forever.

This is another experimental-ish piece, working with symbolism, emotional development, complex scenes with lots of characters interacting, and world-building.
Of course, you can ignore all that and just read a story about tiny talking horses with magic powers. That's good, too.

Celaeno does her job the best she can, living day to day hoping that she can spare her crew the wrath of the Storm King. Most days, she's able to get through her work and go to bed at night feeling only mostly empty, rather than completely. Some days though... Some days are hard.

Pinkie Pie, Ponyville's Party Prodigy.

Before Twilight, Pinkie came to Ponyville and changed the lives of all the residents, hopefully for the better.

What, exactly, did happen during those arduous first days?

Leaving the farm with no plans, no money and, worst of all, no baked goods, how does Pinky 'settle' into her new life of love, laughter and the eternal search for the perfect pastry?

The onset of summer means it's time for vegetable gardening and this year, Twilight is eager and excited to try and start her first garden. She approaches Applejack for some starter advice, but a little bit of egghead vs. stubborn comes into play and soon a wager is struck to see who can produce the best results. Will Twilight's science and magic be able to match up to Applejack's Earth pony know-how?

Now presented as a multi-short chapter story to accommodate my writing schedule.
