Situation update. · 1:34am Sep 25th, 2019

First, because this is now necessary: I am directly asking everyone to stop their blog posting regarding the situation, along with not flooding any Groups. Because what I did -- unintentionally, not realizing how much trouble it was going to cause, but I still did it -- was set off what the site had to treat as a spam flood. The mods have been trying to stem the tide, and that's why the original posting was taken down: I was accurately considered to be Patient Zero. So in the name of not making Knighty's night (and that of everyone else who tries to maintain this place) any worse -- breathe. Please.

All right. And with that said, here's what we know.

Based on what information we were able to gather and relay (including the contents of Holy's blog), some form of address was uncovered. We're hoping it's the right one.

Local police were sufficiently convinced that something was wrong, and went to that location. We currently don't know what happened from there. However, it is vital to remember that from this point forward, Holy being offline does not automatically represent disaster: if Holy agreed to go to the hospital and talk to someone, then Holy would be offline. We have reached the stage where, no matter how much we hate it, it may be possible that all we can do is wait.

We are still using Holy's Discord server to coordinate whatever information we can find, just in case some of the earlier portions turn out to be wrong. You can find it here. Please keep things confined to that Discord, this blog, and Holy's original post. Our mods have enough to worry about tonight.

Again: if you can, take a moment to breathe. I know the waiting is its own form of agony, and 'no news is good news' doesn't always apply. But we were always going to reach the point where waiting was necessary.

Get up. Take a short walk if you need to. Get some water. The worry will still be there when you get back.

Thank you for the update, Estee.

Well, thanks for the clarification, Estee. Either way, you’ve been doing a great job trying to help.

Thanks for letting us now.

Behold your power.

Thank you, Estee.

Thank you, Estee. You're amazing, you truly are.

I’ve removed my post as well, since it looks like the situation has changed.

The mods have been trying to stem the tide, and that's why the original posting was taken down: I was accurately considered to be Patient Zero.

They blamed you and not me? How?

(Because Estee.)

I'll go take credit.

You’re such an amazing and loving person, Estee. I hope you recognize that.

Everyone chips in when lives are at stake, even one as blackhearted as I. And of course, everyone underestimates their own popularity except the ones who think they're popular.

Thank you for leading this charge. However things turn out, you should feel proud of yourself. I'm certainly proud of this community. :)

I suppose this makes you an earth pony, when you speak everyone will hear you.

I'll keep praying in the meantime.

We had to get the word out and in my opinion, we did, mods be damn or otherwise.

I wish none of this had to happen, but this was a wonderful response to an awful situation and it made me so happy to see you and others going as far as you did to try and help. Thanks for being there

I appreciate your effort and update. I agree that something like this needs to be taken seriously, and your attention to the situation may well have saved somepony's life.

That said, it may be small comfort to know that most people who post a long public note prior to a suicide attempt do not actually go on to commit suicide. People who commit suicide generally just do it spontaneously and feel little control over their actions at the time. Though a suicide victim may leave behind a note of apology, it rarely goes into a lot of detail on the build-up to the event like Holy's note did. Also, posting an online note gives readers a chance to respond and prevent the attempt, which is not something most suicide victims intend to happen. This means it is statistically unlikely that Holy was truly prepared to kill themself after posting the note, which is not the same as intending to commit suicide.

That said, "unlikely" does not mean "impossible", and even if Holy does not go through with the suicide attempt, this is obviously a desperate cry for help; besides which, suicide attempts do not always succeed. So taking the situation seriously and ensuring that somepony goes to check on them immediately is much appreciated. Thank you, Estee.

Hopefully my replies about "stop reposting this, we have the info" didn't make things worse. (I assume not as I haven't been yelled at yet.) :twilightblush:

I’m old enough that I remember when Spam was something humans ate, not computers

Estee, you're a peach. ♥

Thank goodness. And you. Spamblast or no, you did the right thing.

Even if you did know what it would cause,
It was the right thing to do.

Now the right thing to do is hold up, wait, hope and comfort each other.

Thank you for getting this ball rolling.

You may have been patient zero, but it was a disease that was caught willingly and thus those of us that did remain culpable. As wretched as it feels to apologize for something done in such a cause, nevertheless I'm sorry to have contributed to the barrage.

Humans are hard-wired to live. I'm hoping that the note meant that a part of her was stalling.

Unless it breaks the server and we can't help anymore, but that's what admins are for. :derpytongue2:

I only just got this, my apologizes but I've already sent messages out to others on Discord, Fimfiction, and Deviant Art. Sorry, I didn't know of your request to stop until now. I pray she is okay.

i sincerely hope holy will be alright, thank you for the update

I was offline through this whole thing. I came on and found my feed flooded, but was thankful when I got to this update. Thank you for what you did, Estee. These are the kinds of things that happen that make me proud to be a member of this community.

I love this community.

thanks for update (found about whole thing via Admiral Biscuit's post). I REALLY hope things will be better than our worst-case scenario ....

God bless ya, Estee.

Thank you for the update you’ve put my mind at ease and hopefully Holy gets the help they need

Thanks, man. Please keep us posted. And God bless.

We thank you for your updates,, Estee. And yes, all we can do is wait.

*hugs Estee*

I-I really just hope that Holy's okay.

Alright. Hope he's fine. Keep up with the updates.

You're a good person Estee!

Kudos to you.

May Karma forever favor you.

I sincerely hope this means good news!

Thanks for the update, Estee. Uh, I think I may have made a post before this memo was made. Should I delete it?

I thank you for the update. I just posted a pretty long comment on the original post, though i am much more grateful that Holy has a better chance of reading it now, and i think it still applies. I will be watching this closely. Life, objectively, is important, and people care about people.

I pray everything turns out alright. Thank you for the update.

Regardless of the spam. Thank you for spreading the word.

I was one of the first few to see his blog and immediately spread the word to as many people as I could

Lets just hope now.

10k views on the post and counting. You definitely got the word out.

To be fair, the response is most likely 99% driven by Holy's having 2,200 followers and being friends with other highly followed people.
It's telling that "the community comes together" for someone horse famous but far far far more rarely for unknowns. It's an endemic problem on the site that I've talked about a few times in the past.

Yeah I don't really think it's legit, but I still tried to do my part to find the guy anyway. Weird to be in a position where I'm agreeing with you.

Thank you for starting the tidal wave. Sure, it may have caused some problems for those on land, but it was the best hope of getting a drowning person to shore.

Thank you Estee! :pinkiesad2:

We are hearing from his mother that he is in the hospital for observation, and hasn't hurt themselves. We did it people.

Here's hoping. Update as soon as something is known, please.
