On the Sliding Scale Of Cynicism Vs. Idealism, I like to think of myself as being idyllically cynical. (Patreon, Ko-Fi.)

Today, I have the chance to achieve fundraising superiority of infinity. (By comparison.) · 10:15pm April 23rd

The headline:

George Santos Quits Congressional Bid After Raising $0 in First Quarter

That's a name which probably isn't familiar to those outside the States, along with a number of those who live here. It may take a few minutes for you to catch up. And once you come to know him, there's a very good chance that you won't exactly like him. Not liking him is sort of a bipartisan thing.

But here's what I'm seeing as the important part.

In the first quarter of 2024, I raised more money to reach Tokyo's MLP convention than George Santos raised to run for Congress.

The Ponicon drive continues. I'll post updates on the completion percentage in each blog, at least as a tagline at the end. (It's currently at 20%.) And I usually just hope that people tip at their own pace, in their own time, and maybe I'll get there in the end.

But today, I am directly asking for at least one person to drop, at a minimum, a single base amount tip into my Ko-Fi jar and drop account.

Ko-Fi tips, aka Vindictive Fiscal Smirking, go here.

Why today of all days?

Just to rub it in.

Also of note: Santos’ campaign ended the quarter with only $6,290.60 cash on hand and owing debts of $781,932.07.

Y'know, he should take a hint from me. One long walk around his neighborhood while watching for glints off loose metal, and he should wipe that last seven cents right out.

I'm aware of the other timing, in having this blog as the first to appear after the previous entry. But I also just appreciated the irony.

Don't spoil a good thing by complaining it isn't better. Santos got his, just be happy about it.

Trump getting his is literally a slow burn legal saga of consequences. A slow-moving karma train-wreck.

Darnit, I should have sent him $5. I only donate for entertainment purposes. The last politician I sent money to was...um... B1 Bob Dornan. And that was $5. I think various political parties have spent a car or two in postage trying to pry more money out of me since then.

Bob was a character. He once got up in the floor of the House, made a rather disparaging (and against the rules) remark about Clinton, I believe, then went back to his office. While the other party scurried around in glee, getting ready for a censure vote, he went back to the floor of the house, declared he was censuring himself for the rest of the day, and went back to his office. Since the rules were quite strict about not being censured *twice* for any offense... There was a great gnashing of teeth to be certain.

The US Constitution. ....
1) Does NOT forbid you from running if you are in jail. There is precedent. Most famously, Eugene Debs, 1920.

2) The US Constitution DOES prohibit states from prosecuting a POTUS.

So, if Trump is elected & ain't in jail by November, 2024, he ain't going until AT LEAST January 20, 2029. By then, the statute of limitations will have expired.

:raritycry:

Have you considered running for congress? I'll donate to your campaign.

5778008 Estee 2024 - It Couldn't Get Any Worse, Right?

5778005 Yeah, that's why they're cramming all these cases at him in such a hurry. Thursday's going to be fun. I don't normally listen to SCOTUS arguments (they affect my SAN levels in a bad way), but this is one that will affect US law for the next century or two.

Heard the name didn't know he was running

Noooo, not the George Santos who built all the Mars rover's from scrap and sent them to space with only his bare hands and then congratulated by George Washington himself! Not a man of character like that!

I am regularly disillusioned with the state of our politics over here in Aus, both state and federal... sadly the only thing that stops this sliding into being depressed is the thought that at least ours is still so far from the level of absolute 'What The Heck?' which you folks have to deal with over there. I honestly have no idea how you can make any sense out your political and legal landscapes... SWEETOLEBOB18's comment just highlights one part the hypocrisy of the situation.

Not that I can have any say in what should happen on the local level over there but I believe that the
Estee for Senate 2024
campaign could be seen as an improvement on some of the options presently on the table. :scootangel:
That said, I also suspect Estee would protest and feel insulted that we would even think to make Estee associate with those types of individuals! :trollestia:

I'm pretty sure Estee would never run with that campaign slogan... Estee knows it can always get Worse!

What other slogans can we think of?

ESTEE For Senate: You've elected much worse! :rainbowlaugh:

I’m hoping that 2028 will have a unity ticket of Blagojevich / Santos and the tagline “America deserves a second chance.”
