Site Post » No More NSFW Blog Posts · 3:56pm Oct 17th, 2013
Hey everyone.
As some of you have noticed, the option to create NSFW blog posts has been removed. The details are being kept private, but it's very important for you to know that this isn't a punitive action. It wasn't done because we felt like taking NSFW blog posts away from you.
We apologize for any inconvenience.
(Note: This does not mean you can post NSFW content in regular blogs.)
(Note #2: Story cover art rules are now being more strongly enforced. Previously submitted stories may be affected. See this post for details.)
(Note #3: Some of you may have noticed that the Tagged Stories feature has been seemingly removed. The feature has actually been nonfunctional for a while now, so it was taken down to avoid giving people the impression that it's working. A functioning Tagged Stories system will return in the future, though, along with neat new system to mark stories as sequels.)
It's as if you've removed adding stories! This changes everything.
Stay strong, guys. We'll get through this.
WITH THE POWER OF LOVE.
We'll have more details and developments for you when we can give them.
This was just now? Kay.
You know, for the life of me, I still don't know what NSFW stands for.
Jeez, I'm behind the times...
Regardless, it's still going to piss a lot of people off. (Not me personally, however - I'm not really all that bothered).
Ho-boy, this is going to cause a shit-storm.
I hope you guys are ready for the fallout.

Traditionally it means No Soliciting For Waifus.
Or Not Safe For Work, if you want to get technical.
1427724 Not Safe For Work, or as the people here dub it, Not Safe For Woona
1427729>>1427730
Oh, that makes sense, then. Thanks. :/\
I shall dub it Not Safe for Wubs and continue about my business.
1427729
Why would you ever solicit for waifus? They should be found through personal exploration, not by suggestions.
My main question is why you waited to put up the site blog... you removed them last night... you should have done them at the same time... either both then, of both now... i was having a conversation and you guys got both of us pissed at the blog maker for no reason because we thought they deleted it...
1427714>>1427712
I thank you three for letting everyone know, and thank you for the update.
Maybe things will calm down now and everyone will just sit tight until the issue is resolved.
...Not that this has any effect on me.
...or that I've ever actually run into a NSFW blog post.
...or expected to.
But I'm kind of curious about the reason for this one?
Was there no built-in warning for it, if you go into an NSFW blog with the mature filter on?
Personally, I don't care but a lot of people do; so brace yourself, a shitstorm is approaching.
Well, all I'm going to say is that if the site staff say they need to do it, then it's got to be for a good reason. The site has yet to implode from the nearly two years I've been here, so I'm sure they can handle this.
I'll admit, this is odd. I know for a fact that knighty likes his NSFW artwork, and isn't above sharing it, so something must be up. Will be awaiting more details as they come.
This is an outrage! I demand that you change it back based solely on my singular opinion because I am the most important person on this entire site!
Eh. As long as we get to keep posting stories, I see no reason to complain about it.
Well. You know what time it is? Time to see some drama in the comment sections~ Not a bad way to start the day.

It's a complicated issue, and we're still sort of trying to work out what needs to be done to resolve it. All we can really say right now is that we're not doing it 'cause we're meanie-faces and that it's a situation in progress, so there might be more news on what's the hip-haps in the future.
Why the change?
So was the removal of the "check this box to inform those who have x story faved of this post" feature a mistake?
I don't know about the 'shitstorm', this sounds like an issue outside of FiMFiction, at least from that vague blog and they not beeing able to give more details before "the issue is resolved".
Maybe some ad-contract is disliking almost freeposting NSFW-stuff, or something?
-shrug-
I guess it's for the best to wait for more info.
1427755
Technically, that feature had been nonfunctional for a while now, so knighty removed it to avoid giving people the false impression that it was working.
A functional tagged stories system will be returning in the future, though! Plus a cool new system for marking stories as sequels.
1427751
I wasn't saying that it was for a bad reason... just that this blog should have been made at the same time... it would mean less confusion... probably less incoming hate to
1427757
Seriously, that is glorious news. Like, legit.
Y'know, I don't think I've ever stumbled upon a NSFW blag post.
1427751
I see tell me what kind of issue are we talking about anyway? Just to satisfy my curiousity
It's gotta be said that I'm pretty unrustled, I don't think I ever had plans to make one, but may I ask why?
Weren't NSFW blog posts the only thing where users were allowed to post, well, NSFW pictures in? If that has been removed, does that mean all sorts of R34 pictures are now indirectly banned by this action?
Okay, now it's time to take bets. My moneys on child pornography concerns.
Joking aside, an issue that I think should be addressed; will this affect both sexual and violent content equally? If the causes do stem from some sort of sexual obscenity concerns, will people still be allowed to create posts about excessively violent and gory (but non sexual) topics? I know that this falls under "details as they come available", but I think when they DO come available, it should be explicitly addressed.
As long as the kinks are worked out, I'm good. Not like you are gonna start telling us that people can't write mature stories, right?
Riiiight?
I'm okay with this. I run with Mature unchecked everywhere but my home computer anyway, so this just means I miss fewer blog posts.
1427757
And I'm extra, extra okay with this. Downright giddy, even.
1427751 Meh. It isn't as if we can do anything about it.
Why bother asking when you are the site's managers?
No need to question.
Just be obedient and follow.
1427766
You can still post mature images in mature story chapters, old sport.
Wait, what? If posting NSFW material isn't allowed on blog posts (one of the few places I thought it was safe to do so), then why even give the option to mark a blog post as NSFW?

Not Sexy For WilmaNope Says Felicity WilliamsQuick question, since I don't think I saw it answered here: what happens to people's NSFW-tagged blogs that had already been posted? It doesn't actually affect me, but I have a friend who (QUITE thankfully) won't be able to get "curious" during games of Cards Against Humanity and post his findings anymore.
Might I ask why we no longer have NSFW blogs?
1427781 The option isn't there any more - that's the entire point of this. I'm assuming that it'll be back at some point, but it's also clear that there's a very good reason why they've removed it for now.
I mean, they said so and everything.
Don't forget that Knighty liked to post NSFW blogs quite a lot. My bet is that there's a technical problem that's led to a legal issue and that they're trying to sort it out.
Yes, sir Dragonqueen sir!
1427781
That option isn't there anymore.
1427786
Your blog posts can still be found in Edit Blogs, but they're hidden from other users.
1427789
1427714 Just one question Obby. Is this part of an effort to fix blog posts so tagging stories will work?
As long as I can still curse like a sailor in my blogs, I'm not bothered.
For clarification, what's considered a NSFW post? I figure images and/or videos are out, but what about music videos with potentially offensive lyrics?
Is discussing sex (for example) allowed in a blog post--not pictures, just a discussion? Anatomy?
Links to potentially NSFW sites? How about mature/sex tagged stories on FimFiction?
Does this mean we can't post anything nsfw until the option is there again?
Hrm. Well, as long as the problem is being fixed.
I'm going to throw out a quote from Obs on his user page, as some folks will probably find it relevant and not think to check around for an answer:
So, you can retrieve content from these blogs, just not any NSFW content.
1427804
Again, we're still working out all the details, but you can expect the aforementioned tagged stories/marking-stories-as-sequels features to hit in the future. It'll be a fun time.
What?!
1427724Not suitable for...something. Work?
