A mythical hero, thought dead for hundreds of years, is found alive in the ice. Hitch, dedicated to the law, is sent to the mountains to investigate how this came to be. And perhaps make a friend along the way.

Quick heads-up, there are several times you've misspelled Capper's name as "Caper" (one P instead of two); you might want to do a quick Crtl+F word search to weed them out.

All in all, not too shabby! There were a few discrepancies regarding Hitch's portrayal that didn't quite add up until the Author's Note disclaimer — you might want to consider adding an AU tag for good measure — but once I got past those, I enjoyed this on the whole all the same.

Good spot; fixed and AU added.
And that's that the result I was looking for: simply an enjoyable read. Thanka for the kind words.

She complied, though she trotted forth again at a slower face. The captain cautiously slipped towards the metallic sheen. Nothing else in the heaps of wood, rusty parts, and possibly preserved ancient materials shone as much. Numerous hurried steps later, a rather suspiciously large chunk of ice met located next to the airdrop lever. A brittle confetti of dusty snow layered over. Its strange magical aura, a preservation spell, strongly urged him. Hesitantly, he brushed off a fair sweep. The horrified malachite eyes of a frozen feline met, bronze shirt button illumined.

ooh, perfect way to get a mortal G4 character into the world of G5!

“Hitch Trailblazer, investigator for Queen Haven.”

hehe, very cool, like a line out of a movie

Capper shrugged. “I was an orphan before I got into the sky. Needed a full name, and a cool one at that.”

that is a very cool name, well-chosen

“The math is rough, but we place Princess Twilight’s reign starting at 0 A.T.S.-”

yay Twilight Sparkle-based dating systems!

‘-would make you 44 biologically then, and legally…. two thousand, one hundred, eleven years old.” This would be one Tartarus of a report to file.

hehe nice to settle this while also making sense as something the characters would say

“So, twenty years there. Unofficially, twenty-two. Celestia slipped us funds to discreetly militarize airships. Before that, piracy and mailing, as long as I’d been alive.”

so true

“Queen Haven throws vanilla lovers in the dungeon?” He chuckled. “Not a bad strategy.”

“I assure you,” Hitch confirmed, “It’s real.”

to be fair it is a very nice dungeon

“To add to her, Flurry Heart and cheese!” Hitch liked that one the best.

do like the idea of it just being a thing that all the princesses have such a favorite food, which is also taken up by rulers of the present day in G5

Toko and Shali journeyed to the tent at Hitch’s summons. A few shuffles of the paper trail and signatures later, everything was in order. Capper watched, stiff as a statue. Namely, proof they hadn’t harmed Capper, exclusive legal rights to salvage the airship, as well as small tax breaks for general compliance and hospitality. The captain bid good luck to their hero, then left to message the chariot station. Hitch reattached his helmet. He sauntered to Capper to initiate a farewell as best he could.

oof, just like that, Capper is left to try to figure out a new life? “new, terrifying Equestria” indeed

“Tell the queen to buy my airship as my new home, or else.”

glad that Capper is at least standing firm in this

i must admit, i really don’t see much in the way of “shipping” here. lots of potential with the scenario and characters, but that potential remains only potential with what little there is of the story. thank you for writing, though!
