For first chapter i have to honestly say, that you kind of combined everything that came to your mind into one chapter, and it kind of worked? well...
there are some things that i think are misplaced, but as for your first story, you started very good! just don't keep everything crowded so much and i believe this can turn into amazing story with a lot of potential
I agree that there is a lot of crowding. There is something interesting, don't rush to accelerate the plot, because there are already different life paths and I would like to hear about them.

Yeah it's been a while since I last read it and I kinda forgot about this little gem of a story but I'm glad it's back
Awww man. Have to say, so far, this is looking pretty good for your first story. The dialogue, characterizations and future chapter set-up seem pretty well done.
Definitely appreciated the detail of Celestia's turn being "Big Sister Instinct" gone too far and the stuff about Starlight in the relatively recent past was also appropriately emotional. Luna protecting and adopting Filly Sunset was wonderful to see. And, yeah, feel for Twi being another orphan (though she at least has a baby dragon for a little brother now in addition to an apprenticeship with Luna and her cutie mark).
On to the next chapter.
Another darn good chapter with some rather intriguing dialogue, characterizations and future chapter set-up. I certainly appreciated Sunset's reflections on Star Chaser before the introduction to Twilight for both of them. And the chat between Luna and Sunset concerning Twilight was a really good detail, particularly the stuff about the hints concerning what happened to Twilight's parents.
I am definitely going to be looking forward to more of this.
