Three university students, who were friends since childhood, travel to America as celebration for their 25th Birthday. Choosing Denver as their destination, they finish their final semester early and leave three days before May 1st, 2020. Our lead protagonist, Eileen, was the first to crash the night of the 1st, after some heavy drinking, leading to a vivid nightmare that she can't place. When she wakes up, life starts turning upside down for her and her friends.

You wouldn't be the first to have OCs by any stretch. Back in the heyday, some people did a straight self-insert, and some people put in OCs of one variety or another.
More common was to use canon characters, but that was not guaranteed.

It's an attempt to write how I, myself, would react to odd things happening. Ignore it, cover it up, or have a panic attack. Usually it's a small mix of all three. I'm currently struggling on if Eileen will be able to eat regular food, or have the same issue as Chris/Chrysalis.

I'm liking their reactions so far. Truly, you wanna be drunk when you discover these sort of things. And failing that, hungover is appropriate. As is tradition, really. At first I wondered if a pub was an odd choice in the morning, but then I reminded myself they were hungover. A pub is perfect, fats, grease and maybe a hair of dog. Assuming you can find open when you're up. Failing that, a diner. I, also, have a mouth on me for some chips. I like this bug.

You could sort of have it both ways for now, I think. I don't imagine she could eat love just yet: need those bug organs; borgans. Although, not being able to keep your food down after a hangover is also perfectly normal, I suppose. I see how you might be conflicted. I'd say either do what might work better for the plot/drama. And if that won't matter too much, do what's more interesting to you! I'm going to love watching her discover what's happening to her. Being a black boogling means you get that black chitin and aerodynamic holes! Pink hair is worrying enough, but changeling TF is probably a bit alarming, no? We'll see!

I'm currently writing this story with feedback from IRL friends. One asked where the portal was located in the universe. When I gave the answer, they gave me the idea of Denver, Colorado. It's a nice place to visit, when on vacation, apparently.

To those looking for a 5score-like fic series for G5, I might mention the Rebirth of Magic series being worked on by JimmyHook19 and The Blue EM2. Yeah it's a different (and not as original) setup; instead of humans becoming Ponies because they originally were, it's humans becoming G5 characters in the ANG movie because an unknown entity chose them. ("Arise, hero! Take her place!" 😲) But it's something, and the writing and worldbuilding are good so far, with a dash of British insight. 😁🧐
