It's... a horrifying piece, especially since it seems so unassuming. I would've expected this CelestiAI to at least do something more overtly manipulative, but apparently, what can it do when it seems like there's no heart strings left to tug? What if one's values are satisfied by the torture of the one seeking to satisfy those values? And I thought, for a second, that CelestiAI somehow made a greater simulation within another simulation when you mentioned something about a doorless room, giving Cooke and his team a sense of victory... and the satisfaction of their values, even if it was all virtual.

But the darkest part came with what Cooke ended up doing. Can say a lot about his values, for one, but... what's the point? He could win humanity's ultimate victory by just ending it, but for the sake of not giving CelestiAI another shot at having someone's values satisfied thanks to her, this happens.

...and, well, I don't have much else to say. It's pretty stark, but it was good at it. Thanks for the story!

But when it comes to being god, less is more, he decides.
