Fluttershy ends the Season 5 premiere a lot, lot faster than she did in canon. And no, it's not because she didn't naively trust them. I can get more creative.

str8aura, Priceless!

I think Starlight IS a NGE fan, but she is too embarrassed to admit it. Maybe it was after her goth phase?

Well, Starlight did say Rei. Fluttershy never mentioned that name. :rainbowlaugh:

:rainbowlaugh: Outstanding. I especially love the implication that everypony uses their mane as storage space. (Or, at the very least, Pinkie's taught her friends.) Thank you for the delightful scene. We need more anime fan Fluttershy.

That is a wonderful way for Fluttershy to deal with Starlight, and I do think she is an Eva fan, because she's the only one who mentioned Rei.

And I'm glad I'm not the only one who noticed that about her staff. :)

HA! I love it. :D

Huh...so Reagen from Inside Job was right. Anime IS very mainstream right now...what do you think Fluttershy thinks of Trigger's work? Specifically BNA?

EVA? No wonder Discord likes her so much.

"A Certain Fluttershy's Thesis" turned out to be true.

Huh.:rainbowhuh: I always pictured EQG Fluttershy as more of an anime fan.

Little disappointed that Starlight outed herself for no reason other than frusrtation, rather than Fluttershy doing it.

Think I would have preferred that she reveal that she's the 19th angel, then explain that she doesn't like putting up her Absolute Terror field, because she's nice like that.

I suspect that Hideaki Anno was tapping into something spiritual when he wrote Evagenlion, and his depression issues were either what allowed that insight, or were caused by it. There are certainly parts of it that look like religious-reference-sphaghetti thrown at the wall to see what sticks, but there are deep subtleties in the show that go over a lot of heads. The original ending, the one that everybody hated, was a depiction of spiritual ascension out of singular identity into union with higher self.

You probably think of yourself as an indiviudal interacting with an external world. But imagine looking at a single tile on your kitchen floor. You can look at it as one tile, but you probably don't. You probably think of it as "the floor" without bothering to distinguish its component parts.

Evangelion is about the "individual tile" that is Shinji Ikari, one component of the greater whole that is humanity. AT fields are what seprate components of the whole, from the whole, and what brings these things together, is love. Evangelion isn't a story about saving Japan from invaders. It's a story about literal angels trying trying to reach out to a lost soul, to bring it into harmony with its higher self.

All of the other characters are other "tiles" the collective floor that is humanity of which Shinji is a part of. They have..."already" ascended, using "already" loosely, because this doesn't operate in linear time. If you look at the kitcken floor and think of it as a suingular thing, then choose to focus on only a single tile, the floor is unchanged by this. It remains what it is, and it's only your perception that changes. Shinji is part of the collective and the collectvie is aware of him as a part in union with itself, but because of fear he's unable to accept his higher self and true nature, and focused instead on his individual selfhood. But the rest of the collective of which he is part, loves him, and in that love, they're willing to be whatever he needs them to be. If that means manifesting at that part of the infinite multiverse which is a besieged Tokyo, they're willing. If it means manifesting as a stereotypical high school romance, they're willing. If it means showing him fear and anger and hatred because these are all he's able to accept...they're willing.

Evangelion is about the universe reaching out to save a lost soul from a spiral of internal focus.

"Without judgement, I love you unconditonally. No matter how you struggle, I will never abandon you."

If you watch Evangelion with this understanding...it is a very different show.

She tried to watch it but got confused and watched BNHA instead. Thought the H stood for "Hecking".

Good to see you again, Sage.

Family Feud is also a lot different if you're thinking about that the whole time. As are my sex tapes. Weirdly, it affects a lot of media. Maybe Freud was right.

Most people just talk about how weird the angels got in the vision of Ezekiel.

I do love Weebshy as a concept

Interesting insight I noticed while editing the audio version. Usually authors will put inside talk or thoughts in italics. When I make audiobooks I usually then put a light echo on those bits to let the listener know it's a thought. I came back here to check if it was in italics, but it wasn't. So I've decided to assume those parts are so I can have it sound better in the audiobook. Might be a good idea as an author to start writing thoughts in that way too.

i normally do put thoughts in italics- but on occasion, i write as if the narrator is commenting on the actions while they occur in real time.
