When Twilight refurbishes an old television set, she is shocked to find that it has unlocked a window to the world of the humans. So, politics is a sensitive issue that shouldn't be discussed for fear of changing things (e.g. destroying friendship)? That's the vibe I'm getting and to be honest if that's the case, that's a bit short-sighted (impo). I would think that ideological debates would be best done with friends, part of friendship is understanding that others have different views and to keep those opinions in mind even if there's massive disagreement among them. Another part is that these issues should be discussed so as to better understand others, because issues like this do come up in life and have a large effect not only on the group of friends but the world at large. It may someday be the case that something will happen that will cause these issues to come into being. Knowing what your friends, believe you can try to find compromise between the opposing views restoring harmony and improving the quality of the friendship. On another note, these issues will come into play in some way or form and while it may destroy a friendship, as brutal as this may sound: it may be for the better. Anywho that's my 1 am politics-friendship schtick and own view on the topic. (That is if I didn't completely misinterpret the fic, if that's the case please find it in your heart to rectify this and improve my understanding). Overall, I did enjoy this as I do find politics to be quite entertaining especially politics that occurs so far away from my location. Again thanks for the wonderful story.

1243355 That's all fine, except these aren't politics that are even part of these ponies' lives. If they were debating Equestrian politics then I would agree with you. But it's pointless for them to argue about the politics of another world entirely. Celestia was disappointed because something that didn't even affect the ponies was ruining their friendship.

1243699 Ah, alright in that context it makes sense. Thanks for the reply.

.... Just saying, The political leanings of each pony seems a bit cliche. The rich acting girl and the 'southern' pony are Right wing and the tomboy and Educated one are left wing. That said, These four yelling about politics feels a bit like watching Trekkers and Trekkies yelling at each other over TOS and TNG. You HAVE your own opinion, But honestly, Does it matter? It's not going to effect anything. That said, Well argued, From both sides. I bet you were great in your high-school Speech and Debate classes.

Celestia:
“Good. I think you’ll understand if I take this television with me. I daresay you have no use for it any longer.”

Yes! Teach the leader politics! Trickle down effect, soon democracy will reign in Equestria!

Single-Payer is the only real solution to America's health care crisis not the corporate giveaways of both the Democrats and Republicans.

1377419 I have to agree that I sort of felt each of their leaning was a bit stereotypical. I mean I could kinda see Rarity leaning more Libertarian Dash leaning right, AJ left and Twi more Centrist.:twilightsheepish:

Ahem. I mean. Really awesome fic. I may have felt it more strongly because I'm a Canadian so often watching American politics feels as pointless as it did for the mane 6 (As in I can't affect them, not that they aren't worth hearing and discussing.)

“Good. I think you’ll understand if I take this television with me. I daresay you have no use for it any longer.”

:moustache:: But I wanna watch Power Rangers!
:trollestia:: Oh Spike! Surely you jest! Super Sentai is clearly superior!
:ajbemused:: What. Clearly, Princess Celestia's been replaced by a changeling, 'cause Super Hentai isn't even 'Murican!
:twilightangry2:: What does that even matter?!
:raritydespair:: I must agree, Applejack. That doesn't seem very important.
:fluttershysad:: Oh my....
:pinkiesmile:: Here we go again!
AND THE DEBATE CONTINUES.

“So you’d punish success?” Applejack asked. “’Cause that’s what you’re doin’ when you say raise taxes on the wealthy. They earned that money and they have every right to keep it.”

I'm sorry, but don't your taxes pay for public school for Applebloom, Applejack?

“Well someone needs to sweep the floors,” Applejack said.

Say's the farmgirl

“Pardon me, Rainbow Dash,” Rarity said, “but isn’t it a bit frivolous for the president to be incurring so much debt? Four billion dollars a day is a lofty sum, and the spending really needs to be put under control.”

1st off, a day? How does that even work? It's not like everyone applicable for Medicare (Or Medicaid I forget which one they sound the same) uses the program every day. 2, please, someone respond with the military's budget? You're telling me that the health of your citizens is worth less than defense which, while is important in its own right, is not important in the current political climate?

Alo, imagine if they found Ben Shapiro or Stephen Colbert?:rainbowlaugh:

If the tv shows them human tv channels (Although in this case, the girls focus solely on political programming), what if they found Discovery Channel and found an episode of MLP: FiM?

The Heartlands of Equestria (Appleossa and Sweet Apple Acres and all the other farms) vs the big-ticket cities (Canterlot, Manehatten, and Las Pegasus). Imagine how Celestia's Day Court will look like when they find out American Democracy?

Well. This experience was ascended. It was extremely uncanny hearing them discuss politics. I hope you post a part two. Maybe Celestia gets wrapped up in this stuff. Celestia and Luna talk to the mane 6? Idk I'm adding this to my favorites
