Yes, that is what I call my "1K Challenge" in which I try to write a passable story in an exact 1,000 words. I do it mainly as a challenge and to help keep up my writing skills.

That should probably be "alright".
I'd recommend putting a comma in after "up".
And lastly, you have this tagged as an "Anthology" when I think you meant to tag it as "Anthro".
