Gaze within the Holocron, and see what stories it has to tell. For every fable is but a thread in the weave of tales.

This story is a sequel to A "warm" Distraction

Meet Loveling, the adoptive daughter of Princess Cadance and Shining Armor, but Loveling is not what she seems to be. She is, in fact, the last surviving Changeling, given to Cadance by Chrysalis before the Changeling Queen froze to death. Out of guilt and responsibility, Cadance and Armor chose to raise this Changeling as if she was their own foal. But there are still old feelings and past resentments that may make little Loveling's life a tad difficult.

Great idea for a story. I can't wait to read what happens next. I also can't wait to read how the extended family reacts to Loveling, if they visit.

I feel like you only used the name Loveling because Lovebug is too cliche.

You now have my full attention, happened by the previous for this put it on my list to read and never got to it, now I think I shall read the previous and this post haste :D

After reading the first story, Armour's reaction in the beginning of this story, feels like he did a 180

My pet peeve is that every foal under Shining Armor and Cadence's care have somewhat dumb names.

that ok and i like it

Heh, don't worry, I liked it. I can see why you didn't want to do it, though; Sometimes it's best NOT to know what's inside the case, or what Bill Murray said to Scarlett Johansen, or whether or not the top falls over, or if the kid decides to grow trees with the truffula seed, or... what's the REAL reason why Trixie hates Twilight other than the Ursa Minor Incident (see Turnabout Storm... or the unofficial rewrite, which doesn't do the "Make you think" side-plot, but is still good in its own right for adding to the mythos.). Regardless, I still liked it, and it's predecessor.

Remember that this is a sequel of ''A "warm" Distraction''. At the end of that story he hoped that the Changelings could be saved....

Unwrapping a part of the bundle, Cadance found that she was holding a clear, dark green and black egg.
"An egg?!" Cadance said. "A Changeling egg."
"What is this?" Armor asked. "A chance to save the Changeling race?"
"A hope, Armor." Cadance answered, holding the egg close as if it were her own foal. "That the Changelings can be saved."
"Let's hope." Armor nodded.

And in this story....

Drifting off to sleep, Armor remembered how Loveling entered his and Cadance's life.
"There is no way we are keeping that bug!" Armor shouted in frustration.
"It's an innocent egg Armor." Cadance objected. "It never hurt anypony."
"Yeah and wait until it's old enough. What then? You gonna stand by and let that thing breed!?" Armor snapped back. "We might as well let every pest and annoyance into the kingdom!"

And apparently went back to his old 'Saved the Changelings' POV.

6075511 Alright, now it makes much more sense.

Nah it was cool. All I wonder is why people choose to depict Shining as such an insensitive jerk at first. Dunno.

Only to Changelings. Given the circumstances at his wedding, he would have an assumed negative opinion on all Changelings.

6307051 Meh I just don't think that would be the case given how she's the last one.

Hence why he had to learn what it was like to raise one himself to get over his former bigot attitudes.
