After the 'Leftovers' story, Pinkie, Applejack, and Twilight continued to gorge on food for Spike, and decided to make it a weekly thing.
But to keep it a secret from everyone else, they went on a camping trip to the sisters old castle in Everfree forest.
Unfortunately, one week, Fluttershy, Rarity, and Rainbow Dash decided to do the same.
After a explanation, they decided to join the fun.

Having thought about it some more, this could easily be doable. Rainbow Dash would want to compete with Applejack to see which one of them could eat the most. Rarity would want to gain weight needing a plus-sized model for her new clothing line for ponies who are a bit more on the bigger side. And Fluttershy would want to join in solely because everypony else is doing it. However, you mentioned camping, and that leaves me wondering if whether or not the Cutie Mark Crusaders would be involved given their annual camping trip with Rarity, Applejack, and Rainbow Dash.
