The first chapter and you have captivated our attention for a good time. No more goody two shoes, we got all the traits of sin.
If you have mixed feelings with EG, then you can take your time and implement more heavily or lightly the Games. For example, unnatural things may happen when the world has no magic. Monster may lurk in daylight without care.
You can do whatever you desired in EG because it is almost parallel or comparable with the real deal. Make the world bigger for bigger things. Like the song of spheres do, there is not a real protagonist, just characters with their stories. I think I can help you a bit if you wish to do your EG story.
The descriptions are delightful to read, the pace is calm and yet we can read it without stopping or having a single problem.

Just a hunch but the part where Celestia puts all her power to one spell if she violates the contract will play an important part.
Cadence sounds more commonly used than candace(from Phineas a Ferb) but it may be because the pronunciation is Hell, literally confusing. All of them sound closer than Po-ta-to and Po-tay-to when you are speaking fast.
The future stuff is buzzkill for me.The story should have been in chronological order
I like the jumps between past and future (or should it be "present"?)
You started a very dark story, but without making it edgy and unreadable. Main character seems to be overpowered, but he paid the price for it. Well done!
