It has been two years since the events of Yu-Gi-Oh! 5D's. The Fortune program had been successfully installed into the Momentum Network, ensuring that it would never go out of control again and it seems that all is at last right with the world.
But when Yusei hears the voices of his Equestrian friends crying out through an anomaly in Satellite, Yusei revs up his D-Wheel once more! An old foe has returned to finish his mission once and for all, and it's up to Yusei to stop him! Can Yusei find and stop the sinister Paradox before his time-jumping destroys Equestria and his future?
This wasn't supposed to happen, but I said that I could come up with a sequel if I wanted to and my brain mistook that for an order. This story was born as a result. So hang on tight, my bronies! This is gonna be one hay of a ride!

942432 Exactly! Paradox! The concept of an infinite loop caused by time travel! and we have a dude named after the concept, so why should what he's doing here make any sense?
Please tell me you're not going to do the same thing here that you did in the first, where all of the Equestrian heroes get defeated and have to be saved by Yusei. Come on, that was exactly what was wrong with Yusei in the actual series: he never lost. Yes, if he had finished his first duel with Kallin, he would have lost, but he got off on a technicality by the duel ending ahead of time. Other than that and one duel he had in a flashback (which they only showed the end of), he never lost a single duel. I get that he's the hero and isn't supposed to lose when he's going up against the major villains or other critical duels, but he's not supposed to be flawless. Even the final duel in the series against Jack, Yusei still won, even though there were no lives at stake and they weren't in any sort of tournament. Look at Pokemon; Ash is the established hero and he loses all the time, at least one gym battle every region.
So please, don't just have Yusei be the one to save all of the Equestrians after all of them fail; let it be a team effort where at least some of them are still there up to the start of and through the whole process of the final duel.
I'll say this much: The duel will be 1-on-1 between Yusei and Paradox. But the ponies will have a much more important role to play than mere motivation this time.

One problem I see with Paradox's plan is that, by showing Applejack the future, he's proving to her that Equestria does in fact HAVE a future. That's the worst mistake a time-traveling villain can make, because it can give the good guys hope and make them more sure of themselves instead of breaking their spirits.
1128336 It wasn't Paradox's doing that caused Applejack to be sent to the future or caused the other ponies to be seperated into different times it was as a result of all that time traveling that it happened.
And of course next chapter we see the match between Paradox and Discord, It's time to duel!

Pretty much what SuperPinkBrony12 said. Paradox's time travelling and tampering with Equestria's past is causing massive temporal distortions to appear all throughout Equestria and its history. It's not just that either. There are a few other things causing the distortions to manifest the way they are, but I'll reveal those later on.

The anime effects were different. They did not have this effect, and the effect that prevented other monsters from attacking was on Malefic World as this: Monsters you control cannot attack, except "Malefic" monsters. This is why he never attacked with Stardust after summoning it with Paradox Dragon.
