8160995 That's kinda the point of it being a punishment. After all the bullcrap they've done, not just in All Bottled Up btw, I figured it was high-time that they actually suffer some consequences for their actions. If I did it your way, it would defeat half the purpose of the story.
Besides, it's not like I didn't acknowledge how cold it was. Even Discord said it was cold!

See, there's a difference between "them suffering consequences" and "being mean spirited towards them".
This story CLEARLY falls in the latter.
On top of that, there's the fact that their actions, at least in All Bottled Up, had minimal consequences, so being forced to insult themselves with ALL of Equestria hearing it was even harsher than it would have been otherwise.
It WOULD have fit the "unusual" part better.
And the subversion of expectations would have been funnier than what was actually in the story.
And to make it still a punishment, have them be embarrassed about the "-licious" part and not the rest of it.
Acknowledging that something's an issue doesn't mean it's no longer an issue.
8161201 Actually, now that I think about it, the punishment would have worked fine as is IF, during the conversation with Discord, it was revealed that Madness had been lying about all of Equestria seeing Starlight and Trixie say those things about themselves.
It's not just punishment for their actions in All Bottled Up; it's punishment for all the jacked-up things they've done and got away with unscathed. And the punishment is strange and unusual regardless; you can't tell me you were expecting their punishment to be doing the 'ponylicious' thing. Plus, judging by your profile pic, I can't help but think you may be a bit bias.
But if you really think it would make the story funnier...

1. For me, if a character were to get punishment for their actions, it should be proportionate to the consequences that resulted from said actions.
