I use combination Mane 6 group tags and individual tags to show a focus on a particular member of the 6, while the others are still a central part of the story. Just that the ones with their own tags are even moreso important.
As for Spike, honestly I keep forgetting about him in stories so I tend to just cut the middleman and not include him in tags.
