It actually wasn't the reason, just a gimmick that came up. FWIW, the original title of this was "A Cloppy Meta-Fic With Humans," on the theory that it would combine all the exploitative elements of fics. The reason, the thinking behind it was something like, "OK, Lyra likes humans, but some humans are bronies. What if she specifically liked bronies, and how they were pony fans, and what if I wrote a story about that and she found out and got to know me because of it and--how many layers can I make this?"
