I like it. Sorry to hear about your friend. I'm sure she would love this story. Keep it up. And don't let immature haters get you down if they start bashing this fic. I doubt they will.

6130667 I will. Thanks. This means a lot to me.

Well I must admit. I love this story so far! It started off great and to me it kept going great. If your friend was still here with us I'm sure she would have love the story you made.:pinkiehappy:

6131409 Thank you. Looks like I'm doing some thing right.

6131447 I can't wait to see how you continue the story!

6135509 I'n not active duty. Yet. Give me two years and I will be, but thank you. If you like the story, hit that like button.

Glock 9mm, 1911 style pistol.

Other than that though, and this story having been told before, many times, it's really good so far.

I would only go into the armed forces myself just as a career if what I'm shooting for doesn't work out. I'm not even patriotic, I'd just do it because almost anyone can apply and at that point I'd be out of options. Or if there's someone I really want to see dead.

6135907 Well, that's not what the Military is about. It's not the 19th century any more. The military looks at your grades, gives you a physical, and then moves on to the next. It's hard to get in. I know this because I talk to recruiters who come to my school. They are the ones who pick who goes and who doesn't. For the Air Force, don't quote me, I may not be 100% accurate, but the Air Force acceptance is about 1-3 out of ten make it in. The Marines, Navy, and Army, So I've heard, are much much harder. So you can't just join, you have to be picked.

6135949 Like I said before, It's not something I really want to do.
Also I added it to MiE, I hope that's okay with you.

6136531
Not being that guy but look at joining like this. Not everyone has the rights we do, you fight today to keep your kids from fighting tomorrow. Its all for the future people of America. They test you with a test called the ASVAB. There are 10 basic tests to see what your strongest area is.
Verbal Skills, Math Skills, General Science, Arithmetic Reasoning, Word Knowledge, Paragraph Comprehension, Mathematics Knowledge, Electronics Information, Auto and Shop Information, and Mechanical Comprehension.
You really can't study for it. The lowest you can get is a 31? I think don't quote me, and that's for the Marines. My AFQT was a 70 on mine and was told I could do what ever I want really. Just work hard and do this great land proud!
*ASVAB*- Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery Test

6136620 Well thanks for the information.

Of course that would all change given the US goes into a war, and that would probably be when I would join, if at all, other than me being in a bad career spot. (either by draft or voluntarily, it would depend what it's for, who's fighting and who we're fighting).

And thanks for not being that kind of guy about it.

6136640
I understand. I don't know what branch you would go into to but if you do join any branch they do look at if you have a GED or High School Diploma. That's whats biting me in the ass right now. If ya want any info just PM me and I'll see what I can answer for ya!

Keep going man, this a good story and chapter, shows that there is a moment of peace for the wounded, yours or not. Love it.

A bit short, but still a pretty good chapter. Keep it up man.

If I wanted to make a distraction, I'd yell "Fuck you!" in Russian, and fire a few shots into the air. I'll also hope those shots don't hit a certain rainbow-maned mare.

6153720 Well, these guys are American and don't know Russian, but I had a similar idea for the distraction. Thank you for commenting.

6153763 Well, the Russian would confuzzle them all the more.

Nothing quite like blood on a certain control freak mares hooves. Clearly the marines have been attacked out of fear, thus FORCING their hand... Never trust a prey species. They're stupid, panicky, dangerous things that fear anything new or different.

yeh love marine stories were its main guys against equestria

6153720 that's why you shoot in to the ground

At what point would that have helped their situation?

6159289 Who's the control freak?

6159289 Who's the control freak?

Dude, they don't use the AR-15 anymore. That got replaced a long time ago by the M-16, and its further variants. Just something I'd thought to say (also would it be possible to put people's oc's into this fic?)

6176437
1. It's the other way around. The Ar-15 replaced the M-16. That's why the name AR-15 is more common.
2. What do you mean?

6176802 1. I'll look it up but I'm not sure that's right
2. What I mean is putting characters readers submit to you into your fic in later chapters. OC stands for original character. It's actually kind of cool because it lets the reader take some part in the story. The trick is to not let in to many oc's, otherwise you'll have to many characters to keep track of. Here's mine:

Name:Grant Hatch
Rank: Sergeant
MOS: Sniper
Branch: US Marine Corps, MSOR
Age: 29
Physical Description: over 6 feet tall, thin, dark brown hair, needs glasses
Combat Overview: Originally a machine gunner, he was selected for sniper school 4 years after he enlisted ( he joined at 19). Initially a quiet person, he really is a very friendly guy. . . back home that is. In war it's a completely different story. He actually goes out of his way to not make a connection with anybody outside his sniper squad. When one of his squad mates asked him why, Grant said: "Friends in war have a bad habit of dying all the time". That's all he had to say, no one ever pressed the issue again
Preferred Weapons: M40A5, M110, M16 w/ ACOG sight, canted iron sights, laser sight, and vertical grip, M9 Berreta w/ laser sight and silencer.
If I've left something out, or if you have any questions, let me know.

Did you get my pm?

Name redsopine

Male

Pegasi/bat pony/ earth, fire, ice, pychotic maniac demons / anthro will explain if chossen

Ex roaly guard and merc/theif/assassin/recon for a elite anthro/human team codenamed wolfpack

Long story short he was dying and bonded with the earth demon then bonded with the fire and ice demons and the psyco demon forced a bond to save its skin and he ended up in the human world and gurds both from meeting and is damage control in case of demon attacks

Yeah, good attempt at doing military characters, not bad, speaking as a marine myself, there are a couple of issues though. In no way would anyone ever call a Master Sergeant "sir." That shit will get you a royal ass chewing, especially if you're any rank below him.

Unless they're super close, no marine would ever call another by his first name either, even still, being in uniform would be a huge no go, unless you're trying to make them the saltiest devil dogs in the world

We don't use AR 15s, we use M-16s, unless you're in an MOS that rates an M-4, even still. No infantry I've ever seen has used anything but, and I'm fairly certain Glock doesn't make 1911 style 9 mils, especially for issue. That's usually going to be an M-9

Other than that, you really need to pace yourself better, so far the story is going a little quick to the new settings. Other than that, it's got potential to do great.

6181500 Hey, Thanks. This helps out a lot. I'll work on those mistakes. Also, with the sir thing, it's an inside joke between close buddies. I'll explain in future chapters.

Alas, you are both wrong, as stated by this from Wikipedia:

"The AR-15 was first built in 1959 by ArmaLite as a small arms rifle for the United States armed forces. Because of financial problems, ArmaLite sold the design to Colt. After modifications, the redesigned rifle was adopted as the M16 rifle. In 1963, Colt started selling the semi-automatic version of the rifle for civilians as the Colt AR-15. Although the name "AR-15" remains a Colt registered trademark, variants of the firearm are made, modified, and sold under various names by multiple manufacturers."

That same article is right here, for further reading.

6249665 Yes, i realize that now. That is why I fixed it in my story.

6249843 okay, sorry for jumping the gun, I've not gotten to this one yet (I'm clearing through my Read Later folder, and this one is seven to go - but when you can read nearly 100,000 words an hour, it doesn't take long to get there).

6249852 Ok, no worries. Once you read this all the way, let me know what you think.

Mad World..... DAMN YOU! good song though

Damn, that was depressing. I don't know what to say, I know this story is written in dedication to your friend but still. It was a good chapter, but it was really tragic. Sorry.

All aboard the feels train, choo choo. Like this story and I bet your friend would have loved this story. I gotta question, what are you shooting for in the Marines?

6294557
Sweet dude I'm trying to be a 68W "Medic" in the Army, would be in the Marines but pretty sure you have to be a medic in the Navy and be put in a Marine division but don't quote me on it.

6294679 I would have to talk to my brother about that. Good luck to you.

Wow. It's emotional to read. You may wanna try adding longer chapters. At least there's more love for the military on here now. It's mostly been halo crossovers.

6483796 yeah. I try to make them longer, but I tend to feel that the longer it is, the less sense it makes.

You wrote Sgt. Hatch perfectly!
