It was. It was referring to The Ballad of Dwight Fry by Alice Cooper. It's a fantastic song, and there is several parts of the song that reflect quite a bit of what John's been through.

Have read this story multiple times over the past two years, it's such a great read.

I do hope you one day return to it, it'd be great to see more of John's antics in Equestria and how his own brand of magic and cunning get him out of trouble.
