I've always loved nature. Loved taking care of animals, hiking through the woods, swimming in the creek behind the house, all of it. 'Course, I can't say I ever expected to become part of it. Well, I did, meaning stuck six feet under as worm food, but definitely not as a living, walking tree man! Now I have to fight just to keep living - or whatever this is called - and protect the forests of this crazy, messed up place from demons, trolls, ogres, and other lovely critters. Not quite what I had in mind when I headed off to college!

3975419 Besides a bit of that is very true. keep in mind that many other places in the world still go at nature with abandon. Most of the environmental laws have only been in place for a couple of decades. We still have a ways to go before more of the damage is reversed.

Well, that's one way of putting it. None of the prequel stories have that much of a connection to the show - they set the stage for the main chessverse stories, which DO connect to the show. If you'd like a story where someone is sent by a god to Equestria and does meet the Mane 6, try Blackwing's Griffin the Griffin, or I believe RLYoshi's To Err is Equine involves the Mane 6. I apologize that my story will not be to your liking and hope that you can find one that is.

It's not that I don't find it to my liking, I just feel as though it'll drag on if there is no plot, I mean, all he's doing is guarding a forest. Is he trying to find a way back? Does he have a motive for guarding the forest? Will interesting, unexpected things happen?

The dragons are probably a Skyrim reference, but I wasn't in the universe when that was planned so I don't know for sure.

This story, and the others like it, are a prequel to the main Chess Game of the Gods universe, started by Rust and expanded by Blackwing. The main (current) 'verse does heavily involve modern day Equestria. However, the prequels simply expand on a theory of how the races came to be, where the Elements came from, and why the Chess Game is a thing. There may be other developments in time, but you'll just have to wait and see for yourself.
