Thethhron

T

Equestria doesn't exist. The mortal races of ponies have yet to devolve from alicorns. Gods battle for the control of this young world, using mortals as their champions. Tirek the Destroyer, a being of evil incarnate, is bent on control, that he may relish in the horror and death of the world's races. Lauren Faust, a god who takes the shape of an alicorn, is forced to accept a game proposed by Tirek to save the planet.

To the leader of a dying human race lost in space, Faust comes with an offer. Megan, that very leader, will become a representative piece for the alicorn in a bid to save her planet, Equis, from Tirek . If Megan is victorious against him and his forces, the humans can settle on the planet, saved from a slow death among the stars.

If Megan fails.... Well, there won't be a planet to live on.

[Takes place 20,000 years prior to the Chess Game of the Gods]

" The mortal races of ponies have yet to devolve from alicorns" That line killed the story for me.

Em....so you dun like that there are no ponies? Sorry to hear that.

I hate the idea of ponies devolving from alicorns, not the idea of ponies. Besides Alicorns are supposed to signify the union of the three pony races, so they weren't any before Celestia and Luna. I prefer the idea that at first there was just regular talking ponies, but with the use of magic they became three different races.

Ah, ok. Well sorry to go against your head canon. But it can't change, as that's part of the way the CGotG verse works.

3732395

You are barely using the Chess Game of the Gods setting anyway, you could make it original since by all intent and purposes is almost the same. But is your story not mine, good luck and remember, only manly men don't get bothered by wearing pink!

I thought it was a little strange as well, but on the other hand an alicorn is supposed to be a harmonic union of all three races, so if one were a little imbalanced that would have some repercussions down the line, as it were.

3732869 I, for one, like the idea of having the ponies spawn from imperfections/mutations of the Alicorn species. It just seems to flow a lot better than just having two Alicorns be birthed from completing magic like Twilight.

And by God, did no one even take notice of the Donuts? More specifically, the ones that grow on trees?:applejackconfused:

Looking forward to more, Thethhron! :pinkiehappy:

Actually, the chess game of the gods lore explicitly says that the mortal ponies were born from the alicorns, which became rarer and rarer until only Celestia and Luna remained (Nyx doesn't count because I don't like her). Source.

So if you don't like the idea of ponies devolving from alicorns don't blame Thethhron, blame the original chessgame authors who decided that was the canon.

We are trying to stick to the canon as much as possible with the prequels so we can't just say "meh, let's change that".

This is a story involving Megan of all things, why place it in the Chess Game of the Gods setting anyway? That just complicates things way to much. But as I said, not my story, have fun!

3733389

Because in the Chess Game of the Gods universe Megan was the first Element of Magic. The prequels (which are a few stories that will be published along with this one) take place in that time, and are barely involved with the main chessgame.

It's because it wasn't touched upon very well. Especially considering Megan is supposed to be from a very high-technological world. A preferred reaction might have gone along the lines of, "oh, so this land has developed the sophistication to genetically morph plants from the RNA ...*blah blah blah pseudo-sciency mumbo-jumbo talk* " or "this looks like a doughnut, but it can't be because it's attached to a tree. better do some scans/some other form of investigation"

Megan is not a scientist, she's a soldier. A soldier with a knife and food. Not to say she isn't intelligent but she doesn't have those skills. Also, it was supposed to be subtle
