"Oh, my goodness! Rarity, what happened here?"

"Oh, Twilight! It was horrible! Disgusting! Vile! A crime against nature! Look at what it's done to my boutique!"

"Wha-what did this?"

"A repugnant, repulsive, revolting… rat!"

"A… wait, what?"

Briefing.
Hello. My name is Preston Stormer.
Ever since those three rookies were put onto Alpha Team-1, nothing has been the same.
When Breez, Furno, and Surge came out of the assembly tower, the first two went straight to the Training Sphere.
Surge, on the other hand, went to one of our internal power plants to suck electricity.
With the amount of electricity he consumes, plus the fact that he’s a robot, you would think that Surge would be good with machines.
Well, he’s not. He’s awful. Surge can reduce a well-oiled hovercraft into a scrapheap in one minute flat.
So that’s why we were all very surprised when Surge invented a teleporter somehow and teleported six quadruped organisms who called themselves “ponies” to Makuhero City, one of them being as hyper and energetic as Surge.
Joy.

Surge’s personality isn’t really like that in Hero Factory canon. I just figured, since his voice is kind of high-pitched in the Hero Factory episodes, why not have him be silly and ridiculous? Plus, his character in the episodes kind of lend to that, as Surge is often used for comic relief (at least, in the Rise of the Rookies.
Cover art is (hopefully) temporary. Because I'm a lazy butt on the shelf. :facehoof:

Tags will be added as the story progresses.

This story was cancelled because of the amount of work that I'd have to put into it, and I don't have that kind of time. I might come back to this, but it's highly unlikely.

EDIT (11/2/16): If I ever do come back to this story, it will need a complete overhaul.

Called to Canterlot in the dead of night, Twilight finds that she has been tasked with the construction of a large-scale magical weapon. After being whisked away to Manehattan, Twilight reluctantly works with her fellow scientists Shock Core and Control Freak, despite her misgivings about the morality of the whole enterprise. And then there's totally a conspiracy theory. And Rainbow Dash is totally gonna drop the bomb.

Meanwhile, the rest of the Mane 6 go through their own unique experiences in the Fourth Great Equestrian War: Applejack and Rainbow Dash in combat, Fluttershy and Rarity behind the scenes, and Pinkie Pie behind enemy lines, using her reality warping powers to be awesome. Don't worry, there won't be gore. There may or may not be wounds or a broken bone, but it won't go far enough to be "gore". At the very least, any bad stuff won't be described.

This fic has no real genre, honestly. It's going to have dark elements and comedic parts. Just take it at face value, I'm not trying to depress you (well, yet) and I'm not trying to make you fall out of your seat laughing. It's just going to be a fic that I hope will entertain you. Hence a "Slice of Life" tag. That's pretty neutral, and that's just what this is. A situation, and the characters live it out. That's a "Slice of Life", right? Maybe I'm totally wrong.

I do want to clarify that I know SQUAT, and I mean NADA, ZIP, ZERO about the actual science of atomic weaponry. I bet I butchered the terminology just by typing that sentence. Don't judge me, I'm just gonna stay vague about how the bomb works.

---------------------------------------------------

This IS my first fic, so please demolish it. It can only make it better.

Expect periodic updates about twice a week. It'll probably end up being once a week, but hey, I'm going to be positive here and nopony can stop me.

All credit for the cover image goes to Reina-Kitsune, you have my gratitude. Please don't sue me.

All the proper dues and respects to Hasbro and Lauren Faust. Hmmm. I felt like I should put this disclaimer but I don't really know if I need to. Well, better safe than sorry. Please don't sue me.

For those of you who read this far into the description: You rock! You've earned the Rainbow Dash seal of approval and two internets! Sorry for such a long description. :facehoof:

CAUTION: SPOILERS FOR EQUESTRIA GIRLS: FRIENDSHIP GAMES ABSOLUTELY EVERYWHERE!!!

Lemon Zest is known as the adrenaline junkie of Crystal Prep. She's got a love for rock music and next to no consistency. That doesn't stop her from enjoying pretty much everything she can though.

So when the Friendship Games come around it's only natural for her to want to compete though. But she doesn't. Why? Because she's being pressured into it. If she were doing it off her own back then it'd be fine. Principle Cinch, however, has other ideas and forces her to play with her recently acquired scholarship to Appaloosa University hanging in the balance.

So instead of losing the one thing that might guarantee her a moment in the spotlight, she's gonna ride it out. And if that involves completely crushing CHS then so be it.

Who knows? It might be fun!

A small reminder of who are the background ponies featured in this story:

-Hairspray: an assistant of Photo Finish seen in the episode "Green isn't your color". She's seen taking care of Fluttershy’s mane.
-Powder Rouge: the one assistant going through the whole “too much blush, not enough blush” with Fluttershy.
-Pish Posh/Swan Dive/Van Vendington: the members of Fancy Pants' inner circle and the ones on the story's picture.

The great Zurg Empire has suffered many hardships under the constant assault by the hands of The Galatic Alliance and the dreaded Star Command. After a staged attack on the empire based on Planet Z was barely foiled, Emperor Zurg's Dreadnought is thrown off its attack course in trying to run off the invaders.

''How is this happening?!'' Zurg observed the ship alerting its crew of the impending disaster. TOTAL DESTRUCTION IN T-MINUS 10 SECONDS! ''No! My plan! My galaxy! Curse you, Buzz Lightyear!~''

All hope was not lost. By some miracle, the villain managed to survive but managed to find yet another headache.

''Golly! What are you? Do. . .you want to be my friend?''

''Emperor Zurg does not make friends!''

But perhaps, with time, he may be able to learn to tolerate this one, strange creature and overly sickening sweet attitude aside.

Maybe.

"Date".
That's definitely a word Rainbow Dash doesn't usually use.
Rainbow hardly knows what "romance" is.
But Rainbow Dash does know about winning. So what happens when Pinkie Pie and Rainbow Dash do a little bet?

Lyra Heartstrings is a particularly lonely mare. Save for her best friend Bon Bon, Lyra doesn't really have many ponies that she talks to during the day. She maintains a relatively quiet lifestyle, but she doesn't really mind, or at least that's what she tells herself.

One evening, Lyra impulsively buys a neat looking decorative glass ball from a pawn shop. She is overjoyed at the find, until strange things start happening.

Every night, when she looks into the ball, she meets some kind of... thing... from a different world called Earth. These beings also appear to have found some kind of glass ball, just like Lyra.

Every night, the ball connects with a different person.

And they all have different stories to tell. Suddenly, Lyra isn't so lonely anymore, until the ball begins to take its toll on her.

As ponykind extends its reach to other stars, it is alarmed to find that the geocentric nature of its home star system is unique... until it isn't. Pony-settled worlds gradually slow to a stop, and the burden of moving stars and satellites is thrust into the hooves of newly-born alicorns. Prepared to face one new frontier, ponykind suddenly finds itself on the bleeding edge of a totally different one as fundamental, ancient magics warp solar systems to fit its preconceptions.

Elsewhere, for a different people orbiting distant stars, ponykind's unlikely effect on system after system has not gone unobserved. Humanity stares, agape, as physics falls apart before its eyes.

Sooner or later, inevitably, their paths of expansion will cross...

Part I: Curvature: The Weight of Worlds - Complete. An earth pony astrophysicist on Equestria's first extrasolar colony is forced to confront both the perilous nature of her existence in an unstable star system, as well as family she has wrongfully estranged. In order for the colony to survive, Curvature must escape the pull of her own crushing guilt.

Part II: Gregory of Raven's Landing: The Reach of Magic - In Progress. A young griffon ambassador to Equus must represent his colony at a conference of settled worlds. Little does he know much the shape of sentient-controlled space has changed in the last century--and what kind of attention that change has attracted.

Part III: Marie Bisset: The Shape of Space - Planning

Part IV: Hayden Davis: The Breadth of Change - Planning.

Rated T for language. The Human tag refers to the presence of human characters in the story; the ponies themselves are still ponies.

The Twilight and Luna tags are for later chapters; while they have a pretty important part to play in the overall narrative, they are not its main characters.

The prologue and first two chapters were proofread, with my endless and insufficient thanks, by Shortmane and others from the FiMFiction Discord. Seeking an editor.
