Not too far into the future, Twilight Sparkle visits Queen Chrysalis, in response to a letter stating her intention to ask forgiveness for her crimes against Equestria.

Queen Chrysalis, against her better judgement, accepted Starlight's offer of redemption after her hive, and her plans, exploded around her. Now, the next day, she wants nothing more than to go on with her miserable life. Her children have other plans.

This takes place in the same universe as my alicorn Starlight story The Tiniest Changes, but can be read on its own perfectly comprehensibly.

I'm marking this as incomplete, because I suspect I will revisit it when I'm in the mood to write Chrysalis, but the first chapter was written, and functions, as a standalone story.

Celestia must deal with sick and dying changelings showing up in Canterlot, and writes for help.

This story took 3rd place in the Iron Author contest at Everfree Northwest 2013, and was originally written in less than two hours.

The first chapter contains a revised/edited version, and the second chapter is the original text, exactly as submitted/judged (typos and all.) See the author's notes at the end of the story for the contest rules (as the contest-provided theme is a slight spoiler for the story.)

Queen Chrysalis is the most perfect, brilliant, intelligent foe Equestria has ever faced, and in just a few days she's going to unleash her plan to conquer Canterlot, and then Equestria, once and for all. At this late stage, nothing can stop her! She can just sit back and enjoy herself until the moment comes to drop the hammer.

Sunset Shimmer isn't perfect, but she's had once heck of a time in Saddle Arabia and can't wait to tell Princess Cadance all about it!

At first, Chrysalis loathed him; the dumb-as-a-brick woodspony who goes by the name of Evergreen. But through circumstance, he is her only savior. And slowly, she comes to love the simple pony and his way of life. But her life as a changeling keeps holding her back. Will there be a happily ever after for them? Or are they doomed for failure?

It's been a few years since Shining Armor retired, longer since the birth of his daughter, and longer still since his marriage to Chrysalis. He's an old pony, older than most, but that doesn't stop him from loving life and loving his wife. Age waits for nopony, though, and it catches up to the best of us.

A/N: This technically takes place in the same universe as good-end True Love Never Changes, though you don't really need to have read that to get this. This is a possible future based on the good end, and may or may not be considered canon as you feel suits you.
