Lately, Discord had taken up gardening.

It was, admittedly, an unexpected hobby for the spirit of chaos and disharmony to pick up. But he'd easily justified it to himself--and everypony else who dared question--with the answer that chaos is being unexpected, and that true chaos is doing things that no one would have guessed, and so he was living perfectly up to his own nature.

He had created six unique varieties of flowers; they were completely unique to his little garden. Nowhere else in Equestria did one grow.

Discord, the lord of chaos, is skilled at many things. As the saying goes, Jack of all trades, master of none, but better than a master of one. The one thing he never dirtied his claws with was the idea of love. But on the day he went to rescue Fluttershy from Chrysalis, he considers it seriously for the first time.

Everypony enjoys myths and ponytales, even if they know such things aren't real. Alicorns fighting against a spirit of chaos? An ancient princess trapped in a library under a tree, waiting to be found? Quite enchanting and fantastic tales yes, but nonetheless as fictional as Daring Do and other such stories. At least, that's what Rarity used to think.

She doesn't anymore.

Nopony ever said the friendship between Fluttershy and Discord would be an easy one. The difference in their life expectancies doesn’t help, but that’s a problem Discord can fix with a snap of the talons—that is, until Fluttershy finds out. Discord isn’t one to give up easily, though. He’ll do anything to keep his one and only friend. Anything.

(This is an alternate universe where Discord is set free from his stone prison a little earlier than the canon show and of course more changes along the way. Again, this sort of follows the show but not in the way you’d think.)

(This idea came from someone in a Fluttercord Discord server. Her name is Chaoticsyd. This alternate universe was her idea. I only took it and added on to it with my own ideas with her permission. Without her, this story wouldn’t exist. ^^)

After Discord finds a small child, his whole life takes a huge turn. One that he would never imagine would change his outlook on chaos and harmony forever.

A young inventor named Tinker has her life turned around with the arrival of a mysterious mare in a crimson cloak and a tattoo in the shape of a draconequus that runs the length of her body. When their fates become intertwined, Tinker will travel through time and space with the pony once known as Twilight Sparkle and witness the nature of her universe and the ponies who inhabit it.

Discord offers Twilight a gift: a simple die. She probably shouldn't accept.
