Rarity gets a special present that might help another pony get just what she wants. But sometimes getting what we want means giving others what they want. And sometimes, it means giving up what we want completely. This story is about what it means to be a role model, and how it can bring out the best in us.

Rainbow Dash has always wanted to be a Wonderbolt, but all she's ever seen has been the glory of it, never understanding what it truely meant beyond the best of the best. However, someone she's long looked up to is going to reveal truths she will need to know to make an important decision...all the while holding back something even more important.

By Scootaloo's age, Rainbow Dash had won countless competitions. As Ponyville's Annual Bounceball Competition approaches, Scootaloo dreams of following in her hoofsteps. Equipped with unquenchable determination and drive, she knows nothing will stop her... except, perhaps, herself.

Rainbow Dash's life as a soldier during the Crystal War is much like the lives of everypony else around her, full of hardships and struggles. However, there are a few positive moments that keep hope alive. But achieving victory and ensuring a brighter future may be significantly tougher than she expects despite the support from her friends.

Unfortunately, the beginning of her journey is defined by the moment she lost her wing.

Fluttershy hasn't been herself lately and Rainbow Dash is overwhelmed with stress. The two decide that a vacation might be the best way for them to clear their minds. Over time they discover the source of their problems, and more importantly, each other. Alongside them are their trusty animal companions- Angel; the arrogant jerk with a heart of gold and Tank; a zen-like tortoise.

Rainbow Dash finally has a chance to join the Wonderbolts. All she has to do is win a series of Timed Aerobatics competitions, which she knows she totally can. Much to her surprise, she does not, and she soon comes to realize it is because the other competitors are taking a drug known as "Morning Sun" which enables them to fly faster, focus more intently, and practice late into the night without getting tired. The drug, however, is banned due to its horrible side effects, and although it grants Rainbow victory, that victory comes at a price. When Twilight realizes what Rainbow is doing, can she save Rainbow Dash from herself?

After learning how to cast Rarity’s gem-finding spell, Sweetie accidentally exposes the Alicorn Amulet’s hidden location in the Everfree Forest. The Cutie Mark Crusaders decide to try the amulet’s power before returning it to its hiding place. Two of the crusaders find that their enhanced abilities are not worth what the amulet demands of them. One, however, comes to the see the amulet as the only way that she can obtain her dreams.

Everyone has different ways of coping when someone close to them disappears.

After seeing how much Scootaloo wants to fly, Rainbow Dash decides to take her for a flight.
The trip takes Rainbow Dash into heavy thoughts as to why she always hung around Scootaloo.

Dash realises how much regret can destroy someones life, and how a past crime can weigh heavily on her chest.
