It's no secret that Zephyr has had an eye on Rainbow Dash for some time, and has taken every opportunity to try and charm her. After yet another failed attempt to do so, he feels like talking to one of his friends about it. Sadly, only Flash was available to listen, and the latter becomes even more unhappy about it when he hears exactly how Zephyr views this rejection.

In order to ensure Prince Blueblood does not threaten the security of the royal line of succession, Princesses Celestia and Luna devise a plan to remove the problem. Unfortunately, this involves removing Blueblood's balls.

In order to save his stallion-hood, Blueblood calls upon his friend and mane-stylist, Zephyr Breeze, to save him. Their solution? Get hitched.

Warning: This is a wacky fic, so there will be crazy character pairings and everyone is going to be at least a little out of character. Really, a lot of them will be way out of character. You have been warned.

These two opposites have nothing in common, and placing them in a room together (say, an elevator) would likely result in chaos.

But what if we overlooked something? Maybe the two of them are a lot more similar than what we assume them to be if we just have them talk with each other.

Only one way to find out and two ways it could go; up, or down.

I'm not kidding on the 'one way' either, as this is the first Octavia & Zephyr story on the site.

By any objective standard, Zephyr Breeze has made a hash of his life. Obnoxious, lazy, and self-deluded, he has, unfortunately, taken his worst traits unto the grave. At least the pressure’s off his back now, surely? However, the Grim Reaper – or shall we say the Graceful Lady of Harvests? – has other ideas.

Zephyr Breeze gets invited to Fluttershy’s cottage for a get together with Fluttershy and Discord. Discord is unhappy about this, as he and Zephyr don’t get along well. The get together ends in disaster, and Discord and Zephyr have to figure out how to fix things...even if it means solving a friendship problem together.

The last time she tried to offer Fluttershy's brother a small job to get him back on his hooves, Rarity was rewarded with a trashed boutique and a dreadful cleaning bill for her cat. For most ponies, an encounter like that would lead them to tossing out Zephyr Breeze the instant he tried to come back for another shot.

However, due to his recently-acquired confidence, as well as his sister's approval of his new behavior, Rarity hesitantly decided to give him a second chance after he was fired from his most recent hairdressing job. After all, one of the most important foundations of friendship is forgiveness; plus, the fashionista was meaning to look for a stylist for an upcoming fashion show she was running.

However, a small snag may be enough to put both Rarity and Zephyr Breeze through a rather awkward loop. Since the mare can't exactly get a fair reference from Zephyr's previous employer, she would have to see his skills by example. But since all of her wigs were gone, that meant there was only way she could know how good of a hairdresser he was: By having him cut somepony's mane.

And Rarity was the only pony around.

While working as a mane-stylist for Photo Finish, Zephyr Breeze agreed to watch Angel bunny for his sister. That job would be a lot easier if Angel hadn't gotten gum stuck in his fur. Now he needs to make sure the rabbit's rage doesn't cost him his job long enough for some substitute fur to arrive.
