The Griffonian Empire groans…

It is March of 1007, and Grover V, emperor of all* griffons, has breathed his last. His empire is broken after secessions and a devastating revolution, his power stolen by schemers in his court, and his only son underage. A regency council, made up of the nobles and clergy of the empire, is being assembled to rule in the stead of four-year-old Grover VI.

Ferdinand Dawnclaw, like many others within the empire, remembers how the last regency went down. Unlike many others, he doesn’t intend to stand by idly as events unfold.

After all, those that fail to learn from history are doomed to repeat it.

The worldbuilding, and several persons in the story (including Dawnclaw) are credited to the dev team of Equestria at War, the MLP Hearts of Iron 4 mod.
This story generally adheres to the “canon”, but I have tweaked certain events, added original characters, and maybe slightly tweaked Dawnclaw’s character. This is all done for the purpose of transferring the game events into a full and proper story.

But when a giant gust of wind forces you and her inside, you'll find out why tonight feels special when the five ponies decided to make a tradition for you.

Rainbow Dash's been feeling strange lately - more than usual. Creeping thoughts invade her brain whenever she isn't actively trying to keep them away. It's so much easier to ignore the problem than figure out what's really gone. That is, until a new pony visits Ponyville. A new pony with shocking new information to share with Dash. This new pony, and the little things quickly stacking up that Dash's been having a harder and harder time ignoring, leaves her with a realization that changes everything.

Twilight has a minor complaint. So she decides to phone the company responsible, thinking it'll be a relatively easy process...

You can tell she's never done this sort of thing before.

Survivors of a decade long war that ended two years ago, Wiggly Sprocket and Live Wire have fended for themselves after war claimed their parents.

While the United Pony Space Initiative proved victorious, the Lilian star system was left nearly in ashes. The warp nexus allowing access to the wider UPSI still sits as a ruined mess, leaving the small planetary colony and two stations to fend for themselves against resurgent piracy.

Wiggly Sprocket has dreamed of leaving the system since her parents were killed, and taking the first shuttle when the nexus is repaired. However, money is sparse and the breaker yards only pay enough to keep her and Live Wire afloat.

That is until happenstance sees a battered but functional ship fall into her hooves. Trading the safety of a steady job for the potential riches floating in the void, Wiggly and Wire never could have imagined what they would find in the midnight sea.

Reading the 1st book is not truly required, but it will give context you might otherwise miss.

Twilight's castle has gone through many wild and life altering changes over the years. What once was a simple library was now the seat of a princess and her council. Not only that, over the years it's played host to so many new and interesting people; each one memorable in their own way.

Which makes it all the stranger that there's this pony tending to the books lately that nobody seems to know... But she seems so familiar!
