I’m JahJah, amateur writer. As for what I write here, I write stories pertaining to the Hearts of Iron 4 mod, Equestria at War. My passion is for writing about war, and the horrors of modern warfare. I strive to write engaging, meaningful stories.

I am also working on an alt-history for EaW, though it’s a back project.

Exhausted thestral soldiers poke their periscopes above the trench top when hearing heavy thuds, only to hardly believe their eyes as giant boxes on legs make their way over nopony’s-land.

A changeling jäger ducks behind a tree as a machine-gun mounted on the arm of a bipedal construct of metal sends a hail of bullets tearing through the forest, praying to every single deity he can think of.

The door is broken down by a hunk of metal, revealing a griffon in a mechanically enhanced, heavily armoured exo-suit with a mortar attached to his back between his wings.

A half-asleep earth pony farmer stumbles out of his house to check on a disturbance, and believes he must be dreaming when he sees two glowing orange eyes disappear into the night.

For all the (downright unholy, some of the time) sci-fi crossovers in the My Little Pony community, I’ve never seen a crossover with Jakub Różalski’s dieselpunk science fiction world, 1920+ (Iron Harvest and Scythe).

So I did.

An alternate timeline on the worldbuilding of the HoI4 mod Equestria at War, Smoky Skies diverges at only one point: While Equestria at War was inspired by the Cutie Re-Mark, Smoky Skies is born of it. Without the Elements of Harmony, Nightmare Moon returns unopposed, Celestia disappears, and Equestria is thrust into a civil war. However, this is where the crossover happens. As a trench stalemate sets in, technology develops at a rapid pace, leading to some very “advanced” weapons. Foremost are “mechs:” basically legged tanks initially, but soon much more versatile. With continent-wide civil unrest, the horrors of mechanised warfare, rapid industrial expansion, and harmony beginning to fade from the land, this is Smoky Skies.
