Welcome back readers, to the final entry in Being a Better Writer‘s Summer of Cliche Writing Advice!
Greetings everyone!
I’m sure many of you have noticed the “How to make a good story?” threads popping up from time to time in many groups and blogs of FIMFiction. While it is impossible to fully answer that question in a meaningful way, certain aspects of a good story can be elaborated on.
Hey guys! Got a question for you:
At this point, I'm prepped and ready to write Book 2 of Synthesis/The Distant Princess. However, I've got a decision to make.
Should I keep it all as one big story, and release each book on one fic? Or should I split it up into books and release them as different stories? There's both pros and cons to this approach, from what I can tell.
Releasing it all as one big story:
--Allows readership to grow over time.
So, I was trying to write my OC's story again but from what I had written before, it made no sense. So now I'm back to square one and am currently just a little frustrated, cause I have no idea where to start. If any of you have any ideas or advice, it would be greatly appreciated.
Gonna try something new with blogs or something while I'm in between stories or in between completing one story and finishing the next. Off the cuff blogs, where I just write what comes to mind when it comes to mind and throw it at y'all.
Today's topic that brought up an off-the-cuff idea was writing about what, and reviving a dead or dormant story.
What, or more specifically, what question should be asked to revive a story?

Why has there been a wave of depression posts out there? Are people just going through the Summer blues... Even though it's still technically Spring?
DISCLAIMER!!
Just so nobody gets their panties in a knot, I want to say depression is a serious issue and I have no idea what each and every one of you go through daily. So don't take this the wrong way like I assume some would.
Welcome back readers! Another Monday is upon us, and I’m diving right in today. by picking up a request topic from Topic List X!
So, I want to take a moment to talk about the delay on Chapter 7, section 3.
What level of ‘Dark And Troubled Past’ would be acceptable for background ponies.
I plan on giving a few of them...uneasy upbringings but they’re incidents that are well behind them and has been greatly improved by their time in Ponyville and the friends they’ve made.
But I don’t want to go too far.
If you’d like an idea, I can enclose the trailer.
This is sorta behind the story blog, and also telling you all the truth. I've been struggling with writing. Constant thoughts of feeling I'm not good enough of a writer, that I just write on Google docs and never share my progress, because I'm terrified it won't be good.
["Gonna be honest. Feelin' a bit attacked here."]

GUYS
I CAN'T FREAKING BELIEVE THIS
Sorry for the freaking out, but I though I'd never hit the featured box (mature off)! Like, at all! Granted, it's in the updated section, but still!
It just doesn't seem real.
This week, Pinkie answers questions from a pony, a friend in need, a living thing, and BumbleFlow! Go check this week's advice out!
I probably should have waited until later today when more people are on, but I don't really care that much.
Advice to young, starting writers I've addressed this before, but I feel it's important:
Darkness and maturity can co-exist. But they are NOT the same thing.
Light and immaturity can co-exist, but they are NOT the same thing.
To mistake one for the other say 'my work is childfriendly BECAUSE it's light' or 'my work is adult BECAUSE it's dark' is one of the biggest mistakes you can make.
WARNING!!! The following contains SPOILERS for the MLP’s season premiere episodes “Celestial Advice” and “All Bottled Up”.
