Why has there been a wave of depression posts out there? Are people just going through the Summer blues... Even though it's still technically Spring?
DISCLAIMER!!
Just so nobody gets their panties in a knot, I want to say depression is a serious issue and I have no idea what each and every one of you go through daily. So don't take this the wrong way like I assume some would.
Anyway, I don't understand why people feel the need to post their problems on the internet, especially here of all places. I mean, you got people writing about their lives as if they were stories in of themselves and half the time I feel like most of the stories are fabricated as hell! But like I said, I don't know these people, who am I to say their stories are real or not? But what I'm trying to say here is that posting about your problems won't help.
I'm sorry, but if I had an issue regarding my family or other personal issues, the last place I'd want to talk about it is here on FimFiction or anywhere else for that matter. Sure I talked about my grandmother's passing recently, but notice how I only gave you snippets of the whole story and not the whole experience? Exactly!
I guess I can see a reason why people post about their lives is for a way to get support. That's great and all but wouldn't you want that support from somebody other than whoever is behind a keyboard and doesn't know you personally? I would. Which is why I propose this idea:
The reason why people post about their depression and their problems online is for attention. They like the kind words given to them because not a lot of people give it to them in real life. That makes sense, but I don't get why people expect some sort of solution for posting their whole speech. Listen, as much as we'd like to think otherwise, nobody online REALLY has the ability to help when it comes to personal matters. Sure we can say kind words, but as far as that goes, that's really it. We can't physically tell that person things will be OK because we're miles away from one another.
If that person really wanted to feel better about the situation or find a solution, then they should talk to a professional. If not your parents then talk to a teacher, a principle, a councilor, somebody who you can really trust. Look, I trust a grown professional with my problems more than I do some rando who sits behind a keyboard.
Yeah, I never post anything about problems unless I need help.
Probably because a lot of people don't have family, friends, councilors, or other people to talk to. So the internet can be a good place to reach out and talk about things.
They say you have to talk about something one hundred times to get it off your chest. Most friends, family, aand so on don't have the patience to listen to things one hundred times. So venting things online where there isn't any attachment or long term commitment can be a good solution and also healthy.
Granted there are better ways to talk about things then fiat out saying you are depressed or something. But sometimes that is what people need to do to get things off of their chest. So online blogs can be a good outlet for that.
I agree so much! Even though, yes, sure, it might help once to get something off your chest, I don't understand people who post about it al the freaking time! So much drama, blah
It's so much better to just chat about it with your closest friends, than make random people of the internet pretend they are there with you. But it's their choice. I simply tend to unfollow people who are too negative and depressing.
Finally Someone who notices something!
Oddly enough, the only posts that show up in my feed regarding depression are the ones addressing those posts.
...Huh.
