What may seem like an extraordinarily crazy day to any other pony is an extraordinarily ordinary day to Big Macintosh. This, like all other days, is the day he deals with his daily suitors.

Cider season is nearing and once again Big Mac has to guard it from any pony that tries to get a early sample. On this day, the red stallion is going to meet a certain blue pegasus with rainbow mane who is going to get some cider, one way or another.

He was never one for adventure. No, he held down the fort at home when Applejack was gone.

He was never one for fun. No, he had to maintain the order when Applebloom was around.

But now he's on his own. No sister to help. No wisdom from age. Just him delivering a pile of pies. Not so hard right? The average pony would no doubt see it as easy labor for the strong horse. But, his little trip quickly turns sour. Will he make the delivery on time? Or will he have something far worse to deal with?

Despite what one might think, Big Macintosh has been head-over-hooves in love with Trixie since she first came to Ponyville due to her (over)confidence and how she doesn't swoon over him like some other mares do. So when she ends up running late for a show while taking a temporary residence in Ponyville, Big Macintosh offers to return a book she borrowed from Twilight's library. However, Trixie implies that the legend written within it has a secret connection to her and her life, and Big Mac can't help but check out the book for himself in hopes of finding out more about her past. And that's when the questions start to pile up: just how is Trixie connected to Cantiolanus, the soldier in the book? Is being with Cheerilee so often to dissect the story making him think of her as more than a friend? And most important of all, how can someone like him, who's tethered to his land, possibly be with an artistic nomad like Trixie? Who will have to make the big sacrifice?

Inspired by a movement within the fandom to create more "eccentric" shippings. Each part begins with a portion of the Cantiolanus legend so that the reader can truly interact with the story. A rom-com for English nerds and hardcore bibliophiles.

Big Macintosh...a simple pony managing a fairly simple family business. But when this order of business brought him to the dunes of Saddle Arabia, where the laws of the land are utterly foreign to him, he is tossed into something bigger than himself.
