Authors note: The story will be more of the interaction between Shining Armour and Flash Sentry and the bromance that doesn't blossom. I wrote this story solely because I really liked the idea of military ponies but didn't want to make an OC.

Flash sentry was a Pegasus royal guard with a lot going for him. He was working his way up the ranks as a prominent soldier, and was the rising star amongst his peers. After a mistake in battle causes Flash to question his abilities as a soldier, Captain Shining Armour reassigns him to castle guard duty in Canterlot.
During the captain’s royal wedding, Flash catches a glimpse of a purple unicorn mare. Months later, fate steps in and he meets her properly for the first time. When they start dating, it seems he had finally made a right decision… until Flash finds out who her older brother is.

Twilight Sparkle and Flash Sentry go on a little date. Occurs right after the events of Equestria Girls.

At the behest of Princess Twilight Sparkle, Lieutenant Flash Sentry has been chosen as the captain for the ponyville royal guard. While pleased by this Revelation, he has doubts about his ability to fill the role.
Can he truly be the captain this new section of the royal guard needs?

Twilight has just gone through eye surgery, and needs to recover. Which means her eyes are covered and she can't see. Without anything to do, she can only wish she could read a new book she's been reading. And somepony is there to grant that wish.

Princess Twilight Sparkle travels to the Crystal Empire to visit her brother, Cadance, and their new foals, Il Bolero di Fuoco (better known as Bolero), and Gleaming Shield. When her train ends up derailed due to the snowstorm, she ends up somehow trapped in an ice cave, in a raging blizzard, with none other than Flash Sentry. Can these two star-and-dimension-crossed lovebirds thaw out the chilly Frozen North with their love, or are they doomed to freeze to death wandering aimlessly through the snow and hail? When Shining Armour finds out his sister's going out with a royal guard, can he accept it for the love that it is? Or will he totally flip a table?

Flash Sentry must battle his own feelings to keep the job he had worked so much for since he was a foal. As time goes on, it becomes more and more difficult to hold back his emotion and on top of this is an abusive Captain who controls the Royal Guard...

Through fire and fear, and darkness and shadow, when the end of the world came, it came swiftly to the peaceful land of Equestria. Now, almost ten years after this cataclysm, a lone mare and her daughter embark on an epic journey of survival across the wasted Equestrian landscape, trying to find hope and meaning in a world where harmony is nothing but a memory.

King Sombra was defeated and the Crystal Empire was saved, but not long after that, Twilight and her friends learn of a pony intent on resurrecting the fallen king. Princess Celestia and the crystal ponies identify him as Temor, the adopted son of King Sombra.

No one knows where Sombra found him or why he chose to raise him and adopt him as his heir. Now it is a race against the clock to stop Temor from completing his goal and in the meantime, the former prince reminisces on how he became who he is today.

This story is part of The Equestria Tales series, although set in an alternate universe. It is a what-if story based on a line from Possession in the Crystal Empire.

The story occurs in early season 3 and diverts a bit from season 3 and onward.

Princess Cadance was certain that as long as Shining Armor was with her, they could defeat any evil. When Celestia sent them to the Crystal Empire, she was determined to prevent King Sombra's return.

But they were not enough. Now, darkness and war spread across Equestria because of their failure. Most back home assume that both of them are dead, the first victims of Sombra's bloody reign.

But true evil doesn't simply destroy. That would be too far easy for those who dared to oppose it.
