Ponies have declared man unfit creatures. They eagerly await people to go through conversion, a strangely simple process that can change the genetic structure of a human into that of a pony. They are basically thinking that they caught humanity with its pants down, expecting us to just go along with it.

The hell were they thinking?

At some time in the recent past, a human somehow ended up in Ponyville. It turns out that this person fit in quite well. So much so that Twilight tries to find a way to bring in more. Being Twilight Sparkle, she quickly succeeds and finds a few more humans willing to move in. But now more ponies want their own human friend, so she goes looking for more.

And eventually Twilight finds one that might not quite work out.

Equestria is in the east. Safety and help are in the east. Dragging his grievously injured friend through enemy territory, Lancet just has to keep going toward the sun and he'll get them both out.

Rainbow Dash develops an acquired taste.

At least, that's what everyone thinks.

When the ponies came, they tried to convert humanity with words and kindness, saying that they were misguided beings and the princesses would help them on the path to Harmony. When that failed, the ponies tried the potion, only for it's magic to be countered by humanity's science. Then they tried force and failed completely at that.
Finally they decided to let the Barrier defeat humanity and it seemed to work! Nearly 50% of the planet was covered with humanity doing it's best to find a solution.
Unfortunately, the ponies of Equestria are about to learn a harsh lesson that humanity learnt long ago. The Earth can be paradise for those who tame it, but to others it is hell.
