For Celestia, living forever isn't her curse. If immortality only include eternal life, she could handle that. What she can't deal with are the memories, or lack thereof. When her past escapes her day by day as the centuries progress, what will she have left?

Story is dedicated to Nightamarus. Keep on keeping on, dude.

Sun comes down, Moon goes up. Moon is lowered, Sun is raised. Ever since Discord was originally defeated, that has been the pattern, the heart of stability for life in Equestria, a celestial sign that ponies retain the helm.

But Luna remembers what life was like before, and the shards of beauty which could be found in chaos.

With the second anniversary of the Return approaching along with the associated holiday, Celestia wants to know if there's anything Luna would like to do in marking the occasion. And all Luna wants -- is an eclipse.

Other than Celestia and Luna, nopony has seen an eclipse in more than a thousand years.

This could be a problem.

(This story takes place along the general Triptych timeline, several moons before Luna's Lottery Lunacy.)

She's been assured by her sister a thousand times that they are equals, so where the hay is her throne?

On the eve of the Summer Sun Festival Celestia has gone missing, and it's up to Luna to find her. What awaits Luna, however, is not only her sister, but a long awaited confrontation of her past.
Luna may have been able to avoid speaking of her imprisonment for this long, but like her term on the moon, nothing lasts forever and she must finally talk about those one thousand years. It seems though, that Celestia isn't acting how she would expect.

Authors note:
On the story: I had the idea (most likely unoriginal) of writing a story where Celestia and Luna finally acknowledge what happened so long ago when Celestia entrapped her own sister on the moon by herself. I went under the assumption that Luna was conscious the whole time, and the Alicorns being ageless, also immortal, hence her survival there. I wanted to add the twist in terms of behaviour of the two, and I honestly can't claim to know a huge amount about psychology but I've done my best.

Generally:
This is my first attempt at posting a story on FIM Fiction, and I will warn that I had no pre-readers, this is mainly to finally get this somewhere where it can be read since it's been sitting uncompleted in storage for a while. As I add to it I'll upload 'chapters', though it is only a short story.

By all means be critical, but keep these points in mind, I am also by no means any kind of 'trained' in writing. I enjoy writing from time to time and this is the result. I hope you enjoy!

Mornings aren't fun for the average pony, but when there's a snowstorm in the way of your job, it's just downright bad. Couple that with having to deal with your annoying little sister, and you've got a taste of Celestia's morning.

Nightmare Moon was a terrifying entity, but defeating her didn't exactly put everything back to normal. With Luna now restored to her rightful form, surely everything can go back to the way it was.

But it's not that easy.

Princess Luna now faces the daunting task of catching up on a thousand years of music, culture, magic and technology in order to not feel so left out. It is only then that she discovers a kind young stallion desperately trying to keep alive the last theater in Canterlot.

The problem is, being friends with a princess can have unintended consequences...

Why do ponies fear the princesses of Equestria? Is it because they have the ability to have them punished at will, or perhaps that they've defeated all those who challenge them?

Despite this, Celestia can't help but think to herself during the tedium of the day courts, "What is Power?"
