It's the day of the Royal Christmas Parade. Celestia and Luna are excited. It'll be the first one they've done together in years. They can't wait. Especially Luna. Most of all, Luna.

Celestia has sent her sister to the Moon. It had to be done; she could not risk Nightmare Moon destroying everything they had achieved together. Yet the events of that fateful day haunt her, reminding her of what her negligence led to, what pain it brought upon herself and her sister. Without her sister to ward away the nightmares, she wakes up screaming every night, having witnessed the Elements banish Nightmare Moon.

Yet, tonight's dreams are worse.

Rated Teen for descriptions of violence and blood.

Perhaps there is more to the relationship of an immortal pet and her immortal master than first meets the eye.

All ponies know about Philomena is that she's Celestia's pet phoenix. Oh, and that she loves pranks. However, what they don't know is that she is older than most ponies think and that she swore to protect Celestia and Luna. For the last thousand years, she has kept at her promise and task.

The Era of Discord saw the death of the King and Queen, which sent Celestia and Luna into hiding until they could find a way to defeat the mad chaos being. For now, as they grow up, Philomena has to protect them from the dangers that the chaotic world throws at them, and she will do so proudly. But of course, not all forms of protection are physical.

This, is Philomena's story.

A thousand years have passed since the catastrophe that destroyed the life of the royal sisters; the same year Celestia stopped celebrating Hearth's Warming. But now she had a chance to to go back to those days of bliss, cuddling in front of the fireplace with a mug of hot cocoa. But after what Celestia did to her, how could she think that Luna would like to spend Hearth's Warming with her.

It's Luna's first morning in Canterlot, and she's having trouble getting sleep. Maybe her sister has something to help...?

Twilight Sparkle is seven years old, and she already knows a lot about the world. What she doesn't understand is her mother: Why does she work so hard when she could be home with her family? Her teacher, Princess Celestia, explains it as best she can.

About 300 years after Luna's banishment, Celestia writes a letter to Luna while she was on the moon, a letter that never reached Luna...until very recently.
