Scientists test out their hypotheses when conducting experiments, to get a better understanding on what they do. Twilight tests out a time traveling spell that allows her to go back in time to any period that she chooses, but something goes awry then she is sent to the past where she meets familiar faces and the ponies who are well known throughout history. But, the world that they live in is not what she expected.

Limited Liability is a changeling with a very routine life. He works at a bank. He lives with a marefriend. He goes through every day making sure he isn't discovered.

At least, that is, until the day that the hive has planned to invade Canterlot. On that day, his love runs out, and his disguise fails. Trapped in public with a chitinous body for all of Equestria to see, Liability has to find a way not only to survive, but to avoid ruining an invasion years in the making. Along the way, he learns a very interesting lesson about the ponies around him.

Pinkie Pie is feeling pretty down on herself, unable to recall the happenings at the party she swears took place yesterday. Whilst lamenting, she spots Twilight from her bedroom window only to feel a wave of unsettlement from her friends peculiar actions. This is but the first in a series of panic inducing moments, in which she becomes more and more paranoid and fearful, with only the abstract thoughts in her mind to keep her company.

This story is technically a sequel to The Dream Stalker, but it is not necessary to read that story first in order to understand this one.
