Twilight Sparkle isn't the first Element Bearer to have both wings and a horn to her name. Rarity knows this all too well, and it's something she thought she had gotten over a long time ago. However, in the wake of Twilight becoming an alicorn princess, Rarity can't help but remember a time when she herself could fly. Unlike Twilight, it wasn't her proudest moment. But if given the choice, would she take the wings again?

Octavia has never considered Vinyl Scratch to be an ideal roommate. She's loud and obnoxious, she comes home whenever she dang well pleases, and she rarely (if ever) takes things seriously. So when Octy learns that she has a twin sister named Fiddlesticks who's coming in for a visit, she can't help but feel a sense of dread. Not because she fears that Fiddlesticks will be offended by Vinyl's bombastic attitude, although that in and of itself would be pretty terrible. Rather, she's afraid of Fiddlesticks embracing said attitude and proceeding to drive her insane.

To ease her roommate's worries, Vinyl promises to be on her best behavior. However, such a promise can only go so far, as she's not too keen on the idea of two Octavias running around and telling her what to do. With Tavi trying too hard to be a good host, Vinyl trying to curb her rebellious nature, and Fiddlesticks just trying to have a good time, something's gotta give...

In a realm outside of reality, Discord challenges Princess Celestia to a little game of wits and strategy to determine the fate of Equestria. Of course, with Discord, there's always a catch. And it is this particular catch that gives Celestia pause. For no matter what she chooses, it will lead to her downfall...

Somewhere in Equestria, there exists a letter penned long ago. Not a particularly extraordinary letter, mind you. It does not contain any ancient spells lost to the annals of time, nor cryptic warnings for future ponies to decipher. No, it is simply a message written by a sorrowful mare who just needed some guidance.

This is that letter.

Thanks to a booby trap (or an enchanted book, depending on which side of the looking glass you're on), Daring Do finds herself propelled out of the literary world and right into Rainbow Dash's room. Quite an awesome turn of events for Dash, right? After all, she's getting to meet her favorite literary heroine in person! What's not to like?

Well, how about the fact that Scootaloo has been sucked into the book? And the fact that Daring Do's adventures are slowly and mysteriously being erased word by word? And that if something isn't done soon, both Scootaloo and Daring could disappear from all of existence?

Yeah, not as awesome as you pictured it, huh RD?

Anyways, it's now a race against time as the two unstoppable pegasi must find a way to get Daring back into the realm of the written word. In the meantime, Scootaloo has to play out Daring's latest adventure and find the treasure of the notorious sea pony pirate, Das Reingold. Sounds simple enough, right? What's the worst that could happen?

While pet-sitting for Princess Celestia, Fluttershy is tricked into letting a monster most vile escape from Tartarus. Soon afterwards, a curse befalls the Princess of the Night, making her unable to yield for the sun. Rumors quickly spread of Nightmare Moon's return, and that Discord is responsible. To make matters worse, Discord finds that his chaos magic cannot fix the problem, at least not permanently. Despite his efforts, the curse continues to return.

Fearing that this is the work of her greatest mistake as Nightmare Moon, Princess Luna embarks on a quest to discover the truth, set things right, and clear her name. But she will not be traveling alone. Overcome with curiosity himself, the Master of Chaos accompanies her (much to her chagrin), along with the Element of Kindness, a grumpy bunny, and a mischievous phoenix. Many perils will be faced, and many dark secrets will be revealed. But at least with Discord around, the trip will be anything but boring.

However, there is always a catch. For unbeknownst to Twilight, the djinn has some plans of her own, mainly involving a great evil locked away in Tartarus. Now the question remains: Who is the mistress, and who is the servant?

On the last day of the Wonderbolt Academy session, Spitfire asks Rainbow Dash to see her in her office in order to clear the air. Perhaps if she mentioned some of this stuff earlier, things might've gone in a different direction. Or, as she soon discovers, perhaps not.
