However, in the wake of Twilight becoming an alicorn princess, Rarity can't help but remember a time when she herself could fly. Unlike Twilight, it wasn't her proudest moment. But if given the choice, would she take the wings again?

Hmm...not as dark as one would think. You may want to consider removing that tag and make it sad instead.
2441989 Honestly, I think the themes of the story still justify the Dark tag, even if the dark aspects aren't as prominent. But, that's just my opinion.
I actually considered adding a Sad tag as well, but it's not really all that sad when you get right down to it. Well, except for maybe the penultimate scene where the dream ends, but that's only for a moment.

2444797 Um, it is a full story. What are you talking about?
You know, this is one of those stories that itself is kind of like a big comment, in a way, so it's tough to figure out what to say about it. So I'll just say that this is the sort of thing the show should do in season four. It's really been a long time since they showed Rarity's positive traits, and I get tired of seeing people dismissing her as just selfish or greedy, or calling her a gold digger.
It's like Luna says here, she does allow herself to be carried away by her own desires sometimes, but she wouldn't be the Element of Generosity if that's all there were to her. Even when she's drooling over some gigantic gem, it's a good bet that it's not because she wants it all for herself, but rather because she wants to use it to create something beautiful for the world to see.
That was a pretty cool story that really showcases the true rarity
