Needless to say, some universes come out more different than others.

This is the story of two such universes.

It was going to be the most awesome party ever.

Pinkie was making her rum cake.

Everypony in Ponyville was invited.

Rainbow Dash had even gotten the most awesome gift in history.

Then everything went wrong.

But it was still the most awesome party ever.

Being the pinnacle culinary achievement for rising bakers, the Annual Canterlot Bake-Off is one of the largest events of its kind. Ponies Equestria-wide come to show off their crafts, eager to prove the supremacy of their art. To many, it is the first step on the road to greatness.

For Cupcake, it is an unending thorn in her side. Every year she has entered, and every year she has lost to lesser chefs simply because they smile and display emotion.

But she'll keep fighting.

Pandora is a remarkable creature, the union of two souls nopony in a million years would have bet on. Naturally, it can be frustrating when the rest of the world fails to acknowledge this, instead choosing to fawn over simple, run of the mill ponies.

Like precious princess Skyla and her precious little wedding.

It's understandable that, being a draconequus, one might be instinctively inclined to wreak a little havoc in such a scenario.

Too bad that havoc has such a habit of getting out of hoof, and maybe turning into a surprise kidnapping of the heir to the Crystal Empire's throne.

But hey, it's all good if you save her in the end.

Right?

She swore she'd left the life. She'd hung up her sunglasses and her rapier wit, trading it for a modest life of attempted world domination followed by a little redemptive pennance. But it was not to be.

With Equestria fallen to a second changeling invasion, and every one of their greatest heroes felled and imprisoned, it will fall to her to raise the mic and attitude once more.

The burn-meista is back.

In all the universe, there is one shape that stands above all others. The height of simplicity and stability, it is the noble triangle, the shape from which all other shapes are made.

Before now, Twilight Sparkle had to suffer in a world of ovals, heptagons, and, Celestia Forbid, quadrilaterals. But now, she has the power.

The power to make everything...

...triangular.

It seemed like such a noble goal to Twilight: bring herbivores and carnivores together by finally destroying the ethical cost of meat.

She would be lauded by history as the greatest agent of harmony, not that it would matter to her. All that would matter to her is that she'd finally performed an act worthy of an Equestrian princess.

All it had to do was work.

Sometimes, looking good can be hard.

Other times, it's impossible.

Today, for Princess Cadance, it just became impossible.

Literally.

Now, three princesses will confront a world they do not, cannot, understand.

But that won't stop them trying.
