Shiny new diplomat Cookie Pusher lives a complicated life—struggling to carry out what may be the strangest duties in the history of the Foreign Service, yet remaining as much in the background as he can manage. Let’s see if we can make his life even more difficult.

This story is a sequel to Diplomatic Overtures

Sunset paused on the high balcony of Princess Twilight’s empty tower, catching her breath after climbing all those stairs from the library. Everypony was away setting up the Friendship Festival; the journal had been buzzing almost constantly with Twilight’s hastily scribbled one-line updates, ecstatic and anxious—until a couple of hours ago. The longer the sudden silence lasted, the more concerned Sunset became, until she hopped through the portal to see what was up. Her alicorn glowed as she fiddled Twi’s telescope into position for a look at the distant city clinging to the mountainside.

Canterlot was burning.

  • Warning tags refer to depictions and discussions, suitable for a teen audience, of warfare and its consequences.
  • This story is self-contained, but Foreign Nationals of Unusual Importance and Amphorae present Cook’s and Rose’s backgrounds.

The girls’ senior year has started, but they still find time once in a while to hang out at Lectern’s New and Used Books. (I’m willing to entertain suggestions or prompts for further non-adventures about the girls, the store, the owner, and anything else that seems germane or appropriate.)

Colonel Galea, EUPG (retired), Dame Companion of the Order of the Golden Sun, found herself at loose ends after her medical retirement and recovery. She jumped at the chance to captain the nation’s largest civilian airship, Pride of Equestria, right out of the builder’s yard—but after a harrowing sky-pirate ambush, the elderly unicorn decided it was time to leave the derring-do to younger ponies and retired again.
Now she’s moved to Ponyford in the Valley of Heart’s Delight, and it’s time to pay her respects to the marquess of the Valley, as his newest vassal knight.

This story is a sequel to Chaos Theory

At the close of Rose Quill’s Chaos Theory, Sunset takes delivery of a battered old cruiser motorcycle. It’s a great do-it-yourself project for the summer after graduation, and it’ll be fun to ride it with her fiancée, Sci-Twi, once it’s done.
First, though, she finds out a fundamental truth: there’s no such thing as a free lunch.

  • Idea suggested by the estimable Baron Engel, based loosely on real events.
  • Story accepted by Rose Quill into her ”Homecoming” arc.
