Once upon a time, ponies lived in Paradise. At least, that's what the stories say.

It's great to see this published! It's got a great way of explaining the story through myths, and commenting on those myths in different ways - I particularly like the dragons' objection to their own story. Congrats again on the second place!

This was really fascinating! There's a Tolkien-esque quality to this backstory (and more generally mythical) and it was interesting hearing two different legends and seeing how they intersect.

The thing about a treasure beyond your wildest imagination is that, by definition, you can't imagine it. Sometimes it's just because brains have a hard time with numbers beyond a certain quantity. Sometimes it's because of qualities you never considered.

Brilliant tale of ambition and old shame, and a great emulation of the Lost Cities "narrative through description" style. Thanks for bringing to Fimfic, and congratulations again on the silver medal.

Love the concept you got going on here. I have a soft spot for the Big Ancient Carcass is a Land Feature trope, and adding dragons to the mix is a double bonus.
11692314 really hits the nail on the head as far as the story itself is concerned. This was a wonderful little snippet of a story.

So Celestia traded the original home of the ponies and the dragon's life--and possibly it's mind before that as well, if it was anything like Spike--for power for herself and Luna?
