This is the story of the 3-inch Rainbow Dash plushie abandoned in the wilderness overlooking San Francisco.

Although based off true events, see author's note for more info, this is a work of fiction, exaggerated for dramatic effect, and does not describe any particular person, living or dead. Reader discretion is advised.

I have to know: did you leave her there?

Of course. Leave no trace--I was even reluctant to touch her. I can only hope a park ranger doesn't come later and pick her up as trash. :fluttercry:

That was...very dark.

I admit the story is dark but I'm having a hard time seeing the reason for the horror tag. Nothing about this felt particularly scary.

Is all of that cursing really necessary?

Originally, I normally don't act like a complaining pussy when I see, hear, or reading profanity/cursing in stories. Like YouTube does for example, because they forcing themselves to be a "kid friendly" website. :ajbemused:

But when I read this, I actually feel kinda cringe for this? That is very concerning. And I can't really take this story seriously on it's dark/horror" aspect. When it's mostly a insulting contest of a total asshole and a literal plushie!? :applejackconfused:

I toned down some of the cussing, because even I might start cringing :twilightoops: I'd like to think that I've grown out of my "edgy boy" phase but it seems like that day hasn't quite come yet. :raritywink:

And you are right, the horror tag was a lazy attempt to try to integrate this story with a Halloween theme, but I guess I'll have to plan something else within the next week to mark the occasion instead. Cosplay maybe? :rainbowwild:

I actually intended for Caretaker to be a sympathetic character, not an "asshole". He's just someone with mental health issues, who, due to his unfortunate circumstances cannot get the help he needs. Which is why he talks to the plushie. At first he's nice to her, sings her songs, and takes her to see skyscrapers. Only later does it become an "insulting contest" as he begins to realize Rainbow Dash is not real, it doesn't speak, and his mind is clouded with illusions--the "ethereal haze of light". Truth of the matter is, I see homeless people quite frequently in town, unfortunately it's a serious problem in the Bay Area, and this story was my attempt to get into the minds of someone in such a desperate situation.

Now I feel doubtful that I was able to communicate all of these points effectively in this story.

It's very hard to describe a situation without going through it yourself. The Caretaker's decline in life seemed very realistic.

I think I love you now, and I don't even know u man, this is amazing.

This was a very emotional story, it hurt a little, but what's life without a little pain to show your alive.

:twilightoops:
