This story is a sequel to My Little Pony: Living the Future
One year after the events of 'Living the Future', Twilight Sparkle and her Mane Six friends attend Canterlot High School as the school’s new students. She then meets another alicorn named Harrison Sparrow, who is a popular high school athlete and is the main member of his own Mane Six, known as the Great Six. They become close friends and have auditioned for the school’s winter musicale. Harrison and Twilight must make it to the callbacks whilst also meeting their existing obligations to the basketball team and the scholastic decathlon if they want to step into the spotlight together.

And the reason for him being left out is having to watch over the school(despite its STARLIGHT's job) made it hurt worst.

Oof... Well, I wish I could make it better if Spike DID come along with the girls. Students at high schools are like 13-18 years old, I would think. But in this story, Twilight and the girls are teens, and Spike is more younger than them, so maybe, I think he would go to elementary school with Lil' Cheese.
